The map module seems to have suddenlly stopped working today. Is anyone else having problems? It was fine this morning and suddenly it won't load any maps. I've tried loading from pics in my archiving that have GPS tags, but nothing will load at all. Restarted, relaoded, done all of those things. Grateful for any insights.
Go to the Library Module, and then re-start LrC.
Looks like a bug that occurs if you close Lightroom with the map module open. The remedy is to select the library module, quit Lightroom and start it again. Now the map module should work as expected.

Works on my end.
What is the exact version of LrC as well as of the OS you are working with?
Your Internet connection is working well?

Hi, yes the internet conenction is fine. I'm on creative cloud so its the latest version, 12.4. Win 11. All kept up to date. Nothing else seems in LR to be amiss and my subscription is up to date as well. I double checked the last billing to make sure there hadn't been anything weird with the payment and that's fine too. Its a real headscratcher. I've never had this problem in years of using LR classic. Just a blank screen where a map should be.

Can you still access Google Maps with your web browser?

Yes, no problem at all

What do you mean "won't load any maps"?? Please be more specific and detailed. If possible show us a screen capture (using the "Insert Photos" icon).

Its just a blank screen. Nothing is loading on the maps module. I can add a screen capture but it will just be a grey rectangle.

Ok everyone, just as randomly after 3 hours its working again. No idea why. I haven't done anything different. Just one of LR's foibles I suppose. Thanks for the rapid response though, its much appreciated.

Map data comes from Google. It would be worth a visit to maps.google.com to make sure you can load that site. Since it was working earlier and now isn't, it sounds like a network connectivity issue. Still, as @dj_paige suggested, a screen shot of your *entire screen* showing toolbars, modules, filmstrip, etc. could be helpful in case we see something that looks off. Edit: ok, I see you posted the screen shot while I was typing my answer 😀

Posted the screenshot a bit earlier (see above) and someone else made the same sugegstion about visiting goggle, which I did, and that worked. Its just as randomly begun working again just now after 3 hours offline. Completely bizarre. Its never happened to me before.

Thanks everyone, it seems to have fixed itself without any intervention from me now. Started just as randomly as it stopped. Think I'll go for a lie down now lol. Appreciate everyone's time.

Hi
I have exactly the same problem...
Tried to exit LrC, start it, go to Library mode, exit, start again, restart PC, feels like I've tried everything...
But still no map is showing...
Pretty frustrating...
Anyone got any suggestions to what try next ?

What version number of LrC do you have? (We need the version NUMBER and not words like "latest" or "up-to-date")
What operating system version number do you have? (We need the version NUMBER and not words like "latest" or "up-to-date")
What does show when you try to go to the Map Module? Can you show us a screen capture? Please use the "Insert Photos" icon to include your screen capture in your reply; do not attach files.

Since you have Windows 10, you should really be running LightrooM Classic version 13.1 (that's the current version as of today). If you upgrade, does the problem go away?

Lightroom Classic 8.4 is five years old software. Google changed the API for maps a few years ago. I am pretty sure that was after version 8.4, so your problem should be gone if you upgrade Lightroom Classic. You pay for upgrades through your subscription, so do yourself a favor and use that.

You seem to run on a preview build for W11, at least the numbering tells so, even though Win 10 is shown as name - Strange. Please note that preview builds are not officially supported.

After the latest update to LrC (Build [202402141005- bf1aeb84], Release 13.2, it looks like this bug has re-established itself. After 3 hours of geolocating pictures by hand using Google Street View I shut down LrC. 2 hours later I re-opened it to find that I had no map and that I had lost all of the geolocation info. The map page said there had been a fault and to look at the JavaScript Console for details of the fault. The Console message was "onloadwff.js:71 [Violation] Permissions policy violation: unload is not allowed in this document." - Useful Huh? After a lot of searching I found this thread and the fix of opening the Library Module before closing down worked and restored the map (but not the geolocation data from my previous session).
Why can't Adobe fix this? They could put a block on closing down from the Map module surely? It's clearly neither new nor unique.

Adobe don't care, just throw it over the partition wall and see what happens. No quality control. Why am I paying hundreds of dollars for this frustration?
Oh, did I forget to mention my bug? Lrc won't load any maps.

Walk away and try 3 hours later and it works. No explanation.
