I'm trying to add a big library as a folder in Lightroom, and when I do, many subfolders do not show up in Lightroom. I can see them in Windows Explorer though. Is this a known issue?
but I have a mixture of JPG and MOV files in the folder.
A suggestion, I have seen in other forum threads that works-
In Windows Explorer, move the .MOV files out to another folder, and then re-try to import the .JPG files.

It should not be a problem. Choose “Add” in the import dialog and select the folders/sub folders you want.

But why when I add the higher level folder does it only add some of the sub-folders? That seems like a bug.

If a subfolder doesn't contain any image files, it won't be added. Could that be your problem?

These folders have images in them. I've also tried Synchronizing Folder multiple times now. Every time I do, it says it needs to add 637 files. Every time after it's finished, it appears nothing was added. And synchronizing again highlights the same number of images to add.

I've also tried adding the folder itself as you suggested. I get an error there are no photos, but I have a mixture of JPG and MOV files in the folder.

Thanks for the advice. I spent about 2 hours online with Adobe support and they were not able to fix the problem. WobertC I did what you suggested, and separated JPG from MOV files in separate folders and then added the folders to the catalog. Lightroom imported both folders correctly this time!

This is a clear symptom of the photos have previously been imported using COPY (instead of ADD) and so Lightroom thinks the photos in these folders (that you see in your operating system) are in some other folder (wherever it did the copy to).
So you have to find the photos in your Lightroom Library Module. Please follow all four of these steps (not one or two or three, but all four):
1. In the Lightroom Library Module, on the left, under Catalog, click on All Photographs
2. Turn off all filters (Ctrl-L once or twice)
3. Turn off all stacking (Photo->Stacking->Expand All Stacks)
4. Search for at least one of these photos by file name using the Lightroom Filter Bar

Thanks for the steps. I followed the steps exactly as you described, and when I try to filter for filename from windows explorer, I get nothing. Doesn't seem like this is my issue.

None of the steps were in Windows Explorer. Please try the steps again, done entirely in Lightroom.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. It was all done in Lightroom, because as you probably guessed, you can't do it in Windows Explorer. I had to go to Windows Explorer to find the file names, since they don't show up in Lightroom.

Show me a screen capture of the final search in Lightroom, so we can see that you performed the steps properly
