If you want to cancel a Trial you must cancel before 14days or you are charged a subscription. All apps from Adobe are subscription only. Nothing is free (except Adobe Bridge).

"I've lost the ability to go back to the layers I had - if I choose edit in photoshop again, all the layers I'd created the first time are lost." I am not experiencing this. I see the layers preserved. You do need to be careful that you are indeed selecting the Ps TIFF image that you want to return to Ps, and not the 'Original' image file. Stacking of the Versions that occurs can complicate this. My Example- The 'Original' (coloured) with a saved Ps TIFF (the monochrome) Re-opening the TIFF in Ps opens the layers as expected-

The "Lightroom Downloader" app is only for users of Lightroom (the Cloud version) and who want to download their PHOTOS from the Cloud. (As in the case of cancelling or terminating a subscription.) Installing any Adobe App (including Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, etc) is done via the install of the 'Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop" app. This app 'downloads' and automatically installs the app (also checking your subscription status.). Of necessity, a paid subscription is required to use the apps longer than a 7-day trial.

You could try using a Sound Editor (such as the free Audacity) and combine enough songs to last your 30mins, then you have only one music track to add in the SS. Might take some learning to achieve but might eliminate your 'repeating' problem. Otherwise I do not have an answer.

This is the nature of all 'parametric' image editors that never change an original image file. Your original files are stored in the Lightroom Cloud and never changed. All your edits are used to create a preview image- the image that you always visibly see in the Lr UI. The "original photo" will be visible if you reset all edits, and you can use 'versions' to store readily available original or edited views. When you want an image file that includes your edits "burnt into the image" you need to Export a new image file. Or, if using the "Local" option to edit images on your hard drive- Lr saves all your edits as XMP data- either as a separate sidecar file for raw files, or embedded in RGB rendered files. Again you need to Export derivative image files that include the edits.

The (eye) icon is an indicator that there have been edits made in the panel where you see a bright-white 'eye' A grey 'eye' indicates nothing in that panel has been adjusted. If you click on the white 'eye' then it temporarily disables the adjustments in that one panel (and not other panels). Clicking on a white 'eye' does not hide or cancel adjustments made in any other panels- so you will still see the effects of other panels, including adjustments that might have been made by a develop preset. If you want to 'keep an original' version of your image visible in the filmstrip (or Grid view) then you should be using Virtual copies. You can work on a virtual copy and leave the 'original' untouched. And you can always [Reset] an image to delete all edits made.

@Ged_Traynor The ProDesign Tools link is no longer viable. The PDT download link states "[IMPORTANT – Adobe is discontinuing public direct download links for older software." and the download link sends you directly to Adobe downloads page that only shows CC2024 and CC2025 versions. So for the OP, CC2019 is no longer available anywhere.

FYI: The (BW) button is a 'toggle' button- it can switch the image (Profile) both ways [Color <> B&W]. The (BW) button applies a standard 'Adobe Monochrome' profile that is not always the 'best'. Instead you could use the Profile Browser (button- four squares & mag glass) to apply one of the many B&W profiles that may suit your image better- Profiles are the base 'foundation' in the editing process and do not alter any of the editing sliders. Alternatively, as suggested by @Stephen Marsh , there are many Develop Presets that will change develop sliders, adjustments, etc. The image can be reverted/reset to original from the '3 dot' icon-

@littlegem4921 Why are you "uploading" files to the Lightroom Cloud? Why not instead use standard Collections in Lr-Classic that will sync with the Lr cloud and allow editing on the iPad? Syncing LrC Collections will be faster (only smart previews ~1MB are synced), and these proxy files do not occupy any space in your Lr Cloud allocation. Edits done on the iPad will automatically sync back to the LrC catalog.

CS6 is efectively 'dead' for you. Downloads and support finished long ago. I see the same effect. Have you considered that it could be the font characteristics? The font character bounding 'box' is central on the image window but the character is not. I don't see a font selected in your screen-clip. (And you have set 'Left align' ) Try some different fonts. Calibri seems a little closer to central. (my screen-clip).

Corrupt catalogs are very rarely possible to recover. Do you have backups of a v5.7 catalog that you could try upgrading with v14? LrC v14 will leave a copy of the v5.7 catalog when it tries to create an upgraded v14 version. Do you still have Lr v5.7 installed, and will it open a v5.7 catalog? (not the new v14 corrupt catalog)

My experience is that the (Switch to Detail) is shown in a right-side panel the Editing icon is still active (highlighted). Cick on the 'three-sliders' develop icon (once or twice) to de-activate editing and the panel should disappear for grid view.

Currently Brush (and masking tools) does not allow user presets to be stored. You only have the several supplied presets. If you want brush slider settings to remain (like a default), uncheck the option at the base of the masking tools-

"iPhone photo library"- is that the Mac 'Photos' App? (I'm not a Mac user) It is known that if you add photos to the Apple Photos App then the original files are effectivly hidden in a special package/folder that Lightroom-Classic cannot access. When you try to import to Lr-Classic you will only get smaller 'preview' files that the Photos App provides. Research this problem for answers that might apply to your situation.
