@sarabt98 All your photos show the exclamation mark that indicates Lr-Classic has lost the location of the original files. In Lr-Classic terms they are "Missing". As another user of the Lightroom-Desktop app might I make suggestions? You cannot " open from Windows file system or Adobe Bridge with a double-click...." Lightroom is an unconventional app that uses a Cloud based catalog library, and a [double-click] will only ask you to Import an image to the Library (Which you can only do once!). "Lightroom" should not be marked as the default app to open image files of any type (this fixes it!). As for finding an image in the Lr libtrary interface that has been previously imported, and continue editing- I suggest you make a "Working" ALBUM that you can add the photos you are currently wanting to work on, hence easily found by selecting the Album. You can have >1 Album in a Folder for several categories of photos (eg. client jobs). Or use the Keyword facility to rapidly find images with a keyword. OTOH There is the 'Local' mode in Lightroom where a simple browser interface allows you to select a local image on a connected drive to edit in Lr.

I believe You will need Lightroom-Classic or Photoshop to create calendars I Google searched for calendar templates and one that came up was a calendar script by Jeffrey Friedl for Photoshop (who has been a trusted prolific plugin writer for Lightroom apps). Not sure what you mean by "Export with presets". There is no facility to apply a Develop Preset in the Export dialog. A Camera Profile would normally be applied to an image in the Basic panel of the Develop module. Or you could create a Develop Preset that includes the [Treatment & Profile] box checked after applying your Calibrite camera profile to an image. OTOH you can apply a Develop Preset that includes a camera profile in the IMPORT process. (Set in the Preferences dialog). Do your camera profiles appear in the Profile Browser panel?

Explain a little bit more. Normally in Develop module of Lr-Classic one would click on the [Copy...] button, or a keyboard [CTRL+C] for the [Copy Settings] dialog to show. [Sync..] will also show the [Copy Settings] if you have more than one image selected. Screen-clips might also help identify your problem. Stickky keyboard keys? Lightroom Version Number?

You won't find a download at Adobe (or possibly anywhere else!). Lr4 has not been supported for many years. On a "newer" Mac you will not be able to install Lr4 which relies on some 32bit components. New Macs are 64bit only. Choices- Continue using Lr4 on your old system, or Subscribe to the {Lightroom Plan 1TB} for the latest version that is called "Lightroom-Classic v14.5.1"

It has been like that for quite some time, and I agree- frustrating. My 80 slides take ~40seconds to prepare previews each and every time I press the 'Play' triangle. I have learnt to just manually scroll through slides with the arrow keys, until I need a final check for music, etc.

Hi @Lucky_Sunshine1183 The Lightroom apps (because they are parametric editors) have individual zoom values selectable (Previews of differing % sizes)- Lightroom (Cloud based)- Lightroom-Classic- LrC can toggle between two values (eg, FIT<>100%) by pressing the [Space Bar]. Selecting a %value becomes the 'default' for the [Space Bar] toggle. eg Click 50% and [Space Bar] will toggle FIT<>25%.- Very useful! Both Lr & LrC will drag an image in the main window with the left-mouse button (when it is zoomed beyond 'Fit' size.) LrC can also move the visible area of a zoomed image by dragging the frame on the thumbnail in the Navigation panel. (See second screen-clip above.)

Because the 'Lightroom' apps are in the 'Parametric raw editor' class they do not have the ability to move pixels around (as does Photoshop), and likely never will. You would need to change to a subscription (Contact Adobe) that includes Photoshop - the Photography Plan 1TB (@ BUY PHOTOGRAPHY PLANS ), or have another 'Pixel based' editor. eg. Photoshop Elements, and many others (not Adobe).

Re: Lightroom-CLASSIC: One approach is to import with a default Preset. Create the Preset with an un-edited raw image (ie. no develop adjustments) except for the Profile (Eg. Adobe Color) set as you want . In the Preset creation window check all boxes, including the [Profile & Treatment] box. (Call it "Neutral" if you wish.) Set this 'Neutral' Preset to be applied in the Preferences (Presets tab > Raw Defaults) that will be applied for all 'Global' imports, Or use it any time to 'neutralize' an image that has already been imported (Note: it will cancel any edits done)..

"If you aren't copying the entire folder the catalog operates within, your backups are usesless" - Not correct if referring only to the catalog. The backup ZIP file that is created when you exit LrC contains one major file- the xxx.LRCAT catalog file, and more recently a second file xxx.LRCAT-DATA that contains information about masks. Those "three other files" you speak of are usually re-created when LrC opens. The major one that needs re-creating is the Preview file, and- Naturally you need all your camera photo files available for the catalog to link to. The camera files are not backed up by the 'exit LrC' backup- that needs an external method to backup under your control. Microsoft One-Drive (or anay Cloud location) is definitely not the place for a LrC catalog, or photos (unless there are full local versions also). https://www.lightroomqueen.com/disaster-strikes-corrupted-catalog/#restore

Knowing that you are using Lightroom-Classic would be helpful. A common cause is that LrC has created a new catalog that does not yet have photos imported. Look for other catalogs- In LrC go Menu > File > Open Recent, and check for other catalogs that might appear in this menu. Or, in Mac Finder search for .LRCAT (catalog) files that you can open by a [Double-Click]. Where do you store your Catalog file? Where do you store your camera files? Inserting screen-clips in your posts of your LrC app screen can be useful.

I illustrate from Lightroom on my PC (same as the Mac version)- When you Share/Export an image choose 'Custom Settings' where you can check the box for a watermark and click on the cog-wheel for text or graphic options. You can create your signature (PNG or JPG) graphic and be creative in Photoshop.

Hi @Glenn 8675309 Well that should not have happened if you had only changed the payment method. -Unless something has changed that I don't know about. Obviously Adobe switched you to the new plan at the higher cost, or payment method was kept at the 'Monthly' (higher) rate. I have seen a few posts where people were 'switched' to the new plan instead of just changing the payment method. Naturally if your plan had expired then the new Lightroom Plans are the only options. "my cost will go from $10 per month to $20 per month" The $10 suggests you may have the 'Photography Plan 20GB'- If that is so- then a change of payment method, from monthly to yearly, will keep your cost at $10 (paid annually). This is a 'grandfathering offer' from Adobe to keep you at the same cost if you pay yearly. A comment- An early step in your workflow is not typical behaviour of Lr-Classic- "I select a RAW file and right-click, choosing Edit In > Adobe Photoshop. I select Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments" With the [Edit-In] command: Any proprietary RAW file (CR3, NEF, RawDNG, etc) should open directly in a Photoshop document window. Only rendered RGB files (JPG, TIF, PSD, PNG, ) should show the options that include- "Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments". So yes, something is amiss, but I do not know what. Try this suggested fix- As Lightroom's catalog is in the cloud, you can delete the local catalog (or just rename it) and restarting LR will make it recreate one. WIth the cloud-dependent Lightroom (Lightroom-Desktop), think of its catalog as just being a cache for when you are working offline. To re-build the local catalog in Windows: On Windows Close Lightroom Hold down the [windows key] and Press [ R ] to bring up the run dialog Type %appdata% and hit return Navigate the file path through Local to Data and open the folder with a long string of numbers Rename the file {Managed Catalog.mcat} to {Managed Catalog.old} Delete the {previews.db } database Close Explorer and re-launch Lightroom Wait for sync to complete

You are posting in the Lightroom (Cloud based) forum yet you talk of catalogs (plural) So please give some details of your app and version number in an info report Main Menu > Help > System Info... You also mention "one drive Alby2" - Is that the Microsoft OneDrive. If so it is a Cloud storage method, and Lightroom-Classic (If that is what you are using) requires local copies of your photo files, hence the need to have files located on your Mac HD or a local attached drive. Lightroom apps do not work well with 'OneDrive'! And why are you creating multiple catalogs?

@fitzarc Try this US link to buy plans- https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/photography.html# At the bottom of the page you will find the Photography Plan that includes Photoshop- One issue I can forsee is installing Lr6 on the new system. Activation servers for Lr6 are non existant so activating is near impossible. (You might get 30days trial) You might be better to copy your current Lr6 catalog and all your photos (in their exact folder heirarchy) to the new system, and install Lightroom-Classic. Ignore any empty catalog that LrC might create, instead double-click the copied Lr6 catalog (in File Explorer) to open and allow it to upgrade. Re-linking the folders of photos in the catalog (if shown as 'Missing') might be needed, but that is not difficult. NO Importing of photos!. A catalog from a Backup is not needed- copy the current working Lr6 catalog.

Since May 2025 the "Lightroom Plan" has included Lightroom-Classic. Lightroom-Classic is the only app that will read and update your Lr6 catalog. Lightroom-Classic is the app you need to install. Sorry for a slow reply, but your explanations make no sense to me at all. Lightroom v8.5 is a Cloud based app- it does not use a 'local' catalog. The 'catalog' is in the Lightroom Cloud. Photos imported to Lightroom are synced to the Lightroom Cloud. If you have local photo files that you are moving then you are possibly looking at Local copies that LIghtroom can access when internet is disconnected. I do not know what "Catalog folder" you tried to delete. Lightroom v8.5 does not have a .LRCAT catalog file. And looking again at you initial post "I was transferring 18,000 images from my lightroom catalog onto an external hard drive and 16,000 of them disappeared." raises questions: Transferring-How? Exporting? Using the Downloader App? Copying disk to disk? So you "think" it is v8.5. Open the 'Lightroom' app and go MENU > Help > Info... and post a screen-clip of the result. If we know the exact app and version, you posts may make more sense. Regards

Hi @danw74182291 One small point of explanation- The {Files} folder in the Creative Cloud Desktop App does not contain your Lightroom photos. (Contrary to what @Claire H. says in her post above.)
