I prefer to Create a 'Saved Slideshow Collection' and Custom sort the photos in Grid view of this collection. Photos that are later added to the 'Saved Slideshow Collection' will appear as the last images in Grid view until you drag&drop to another position.  You can change the sorting either in grid view or on the Slideshow Filmstrip. @Dick_Davis  I have read your first post again and still have some questions-   "Some (a lot) of these have a question mark, a year/month/date, and any number (0-150+) of images. Some of these folders display images, others, a gray box. A message displays "Folder is missing please re-link" So Lightroom-Classic shows these folders in a location it believes them to be- (the drive letter does not show in your screen-clip) Where does Windows File Explorer show these exact same folders?  Where do you think these folders are located? How did the folders become missing in the Catalog?  Did you use Windows File Explorer (or a 3rd party file browser eg. Bridge)  to Move or Delete these folders on the hard-drive? Or has the Drive letter (of an external drive) changed? (Happens when you plug in multiple USB devices in a different order)   "I save my finished pictures to an external hard drive." Lr-Classic doesn't have a "Save" function. Yes you can Export derivative copies that have the edits included, but these are not the images referenced in the catalog. One point: To drag and drop photos into a standard collection you must start the drag by placing the cursor on an image in the thumbnail/s, and not on the grey border. I cannot reproduce what you describe in my Version 9.0.   When editing a RAW file the Color panel allows me to change WB between Default presets, Slider, or enter a Kelvin number, at any time when editing a raw file. Well explained @FSt0p  and to summarize- 'Old' denoise method created a new DNG RAW linear RGB file. Edits embedded (in the TIFF like data?). 'New' Denoise method- no new file - only edit metadata in any exported DNG RAW file. (akin to a Copy of the RAW).     ... View more

"When I apply denoise, and export that image as a DNG, then import that again, it does not have denoise applied and has to be run again." I do not experience this.  In my last trial the Exported DNG (and added to the catalog) is only slightly smaller, (21.6 > 13.8 MB) with Lossy Compression,  but it still visibly retains the Denoise setting in the Detail panel.   I can only assume (we need an expert to confirm) that the denoise data occupies a large portion of the filesize in the exported file.  Exported without Denoise the new filesize is 7.46MB.!  (21.6 > 7.46). I doubt, very much, you will ever achieve the compression you want for exported images with Denoise applied.   1) Original (High ISO) image.  (Original 21.6MB is a converted DNG from a CR2)   2) Denoise applied to the original-   3) The exported DNG image (using Lossy compression >  13.8MB) in the develop module-   4) The Lr-Classic Detail panel in the Imported DNG-     ... @TBFMcKee   Just a suggestion- Look in the Keyword List panel. A Keyword that has a dot after the name is set as a 'Parent' for all new keywords to be placed under as 'child' keywords. You can toggle this feature on/off by a [Right-Click] on any keyword. I deliberately have a 'Parent' called "#NEW KEYWORDS" where all new keywords go until I can re-locate them later.  (The # in the name sorts this 'parent' KW at or near the top of my KW list.)       ... I don't know about a DNG being "much smaller", but I can apply Denoise to a NEF raw file and export as DNG, and the Denoise is still obvious in the DNG (Detail panel of develop module).   NEF 29.1MB >  DNG 27.3MB Alternatively- Simply converting the original edited NEF to DNG (no export- no extra files) I see the same size reduction >27.3MB.   ... Do not use any other 3rd party app. No. 1 Rule for Lr-Classic users:  Always do ALL file and folder modifications (renaming, moving, deleting, etc) IN the Lr-Classic interface only. Keywords in Bridge require confusing Metadata Read/Write actions to sync with Lr-Classic. Not worth the effort. Keyword in Lr-Classic. This is a User to User forum. Only rarely will you see a post from an Adobe employee. There is no support for Lightroom v6 (Legacy). Adobe will not help with Lr v6. Support for v6 ended long ago. I am not an Adobe employee, but can tell you this- Lightroom-Classic v15.0.1 requires the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App to be installed (to manage your annual subscription). Installing the CC Desktop App WILL CONVERT your Lightroom v6 (Legacy) into a 'Subscription' version (called Lightroom CC2015). I do not know, but I suspect that installing Lr-Classic will overwrite Lr6. Lr-Classic will upgrade your Lr6 catalogs - you lose nothing in the upgrade - all your edits are preserved in the updated catalog. Catalogs opened or used in Lr-Classic are not backwards compatible. ie. LrC catalogs will not be useful in Lr6(Legacy).   So I believe you have two choices only - Stick with Lr6, or accept the future and subscribe to a Lightroom Plan with Lr-Classic (and forget Lr6 forever).   Lightroom v6(Legacy) is now becoming  impossible to re-install as the activation servers no longer exist, and this would be the problem you strike if you needed to wipe your system of all Adobe apps and re-install Lr6 (which you would have to do if you had installed the CC Desktop App).     ... Perhaps you are a Pro and needing to share full-size files with other users of Adobe apps.  Me, i am an amateur that prefers to stick with Lr-Classic and sync my Collections to the Cloud. I can share Collections with anyone using a browser and allow downloads of files (with a long edge dimension of 2048px), and not use any of my Cloud storage allocation. Shared Test by Robert Cullen  Maybe Lightroom will improve with time to provide the features you (and I presume many others) need.     ... In your screen-clip I see that you are importing to the [Q] drive- does the folder destination have write permissions? Is this folder suitable named (without full-stops or forward slashes. ie. Alpha-numeric only.) An you have not yet illustrated your Destination panel details-   "I have never had to select a destination" Well yes you have. You must have set a destination at some time in the past, and it has become your 'default' import location (Or you use an Import Preset).  Any 'Copy', 'Copy as DNG' or 'Move' import process requires a Destination.     ... LIghtroom does not use a folder based system. All imports simply go to the Cloud (and View by Date, etc) where you can place photos into Albums. (Albums can be combined into a 'Folder'). "include sub-folders" TBMK and my experience, photos in sub-folders are automatically included when you select a folder to import, without a checkbox available.
