I had a MacBook which ran out of memory so I had to put photos on an flash drive. I recently got a new MacBook with plenty of memory. After going thru the nightmare of transferring photos from my old MacBook and the flash drive I ended up with about 200 missing photos. I can find them on my flash drive, and I copy and paste them in the pictures folder. This eliminates the ? or ! mark but they still show up as a missing picture when I click on Show Missing Pictures under Catalogs. What am I missing. Also in the I find that the date taken has been changed in Metadata in some pictures. Is there a way to change the date back?
The missing pictures collection isn't dynamic. So, if you showed LR where all your missing pictures are, that collection won't be updated and will still contain the now-not-missing photos. To refresh that collection, you need to execute the Library->Find All Missing Photos menu command.

Thank you. That solved the problem. The weird thing was that after matching the photos up, the ? and ! on the missing photo disappeared, but it still showed up as a missing photo. After going to the Library to Find All Missing Photos, they disappeared from the list. Thanks again.

You may want to store your images on an external drive moving forward. Keeping as much space as possible free will help your system run faster. Here is some information on backup strategies that may be helpful.
Lightroom Classic CC allows you to schedule regular catalog backups when you exit the software. Backups executed from Lightroom Classic CC include only the catalog file. You must independently back up your edited photos and anything exported from Lightroom Classic CC. How to back up catalogs in Lightroom Classic CC
