An easy question, I hope.
Once a photo has had a modification done to it, there is an icon that indicates this. (See image)
I still have these as usual in my library, but not on my film strip.
Can anyone tell me how to get them back?
Resetting the LR Preferences.

It is a option in the LR Preferences on the interface tab under the Filmstrip section. "Show Badges".

Thanks for that JSM, but it's already selected.
Just in case, I deselected then selected again, but no luck.
I also rebooted LR between doing each.

That option is what displays or hides the filmstrip badges. Have you restarted LR, although you should need to. When was the last time you restarted your computer?
Make sure Use Graphics processor is turned off and test.

Are you sure the images displayed in the film strip have had edits done to them?

Yes. I just did a new one, by changing a value.

Thanks JSM. Deleting the preference file did the trick.
Doesn't work on W10

From what I see in your screen capture the thumbnail area was most likely resized too small.
When the thumbnail bar area is resized too small the badges automatically get disabled as they would overlap too much of the thumbnail image and be hard to distinguish one badge icon from the other. (star ratings will disappear too)
Resetting preferences would set the thumbnails back to the default size and you get the badges back.
