Monitor keeps disconnecting when using Lightroom

Hi!

I have an issue where my monitor keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. This only happens when using Lightroom. It happens when I execute tasks in Lightroom, which can be everything from reducing noise to adding a gradient. 

 

Can someone help me with this? My system info is below (it's in Dutch, can't export it in English)

My monitor is a ViewSonic VP2786-4K monitor.

How many display adapters does the computer have. Many laptops have a basic display adapter in addition to the Nvidia adapter you list. If so, disable the basic adapter and use only the Nvidia.

Are you using the both laptop monitor and the Viewsonic external?

Do both monitors "disconnect"? What exectly do you mean by that? Flash off and on? Disconnect requiring a reboot?

I suspect the following is not the cause of your problem, but it may be causing other issues, especially any performance with the newer features as AI Denoise, AI masks, etc.

 

so, Windows Driver Store v31.0.15.2892, that would be NVIDIA Driver v528.92. Released way back in 5 April 2023

v528.92 is very old in terms of LrC support.

At the NVIDIA Support page, for the Studio driver, v560.70 is shown (released 7 days ago)

 

NVIDIA recommends the Studio Driers (when available) over the Game Ready drivers, as the Game Ready drivers may not be well tested, and the Studio drivers are not released until after more testing. NVIDIA recommends the Studio drivers for creative users as opposed to Gamers.

 

Adobe always recommends keeping the GPU driver up to date.

Thank you! 
I have updated the drivers. The problem was the USB-C connection. Switching to a HDMI cable solved the problem.

This only happens when using Lightroom.

 

 

Lightroom Classic is a known computer resource hog. Often more of a resource hog than high end 3-D games. Issues with hardware can show up when using LrC that do not crop up outside of LrC.

 

Some users will state something like, "But Photoshop behaves" I would state that is like comparing apples to oranges, but it is worse than that.

 

As you are having a Monitor disconnect issue, have you accomplished any of the following:

 

  • Update the GPU (Ok, I stated this might not be it, but some sources state to check)
  • Made sure that the cable between computer and monitor is not just a little loose
  • Made sure that their is no dust bunnies around the GPU, CPU, Power Supply and Computer inlets/outlets
  • Made sure any power cable between Power Supply and GPU is not loose, disconnected, or missing
  • Made sure the GPU is not a bit loose/off in the slot it is in
  • Made sure the GPU is in the correct slot
  • Checked for GPU or CPU overheating.

If this was my system, I would try a different high quality video cable between the computer and monitor(s).

Thank you! 
This worked. I was using the USB-C slot on my laptop and on the monitor. I switched to using a high quality HDMI and I this works fine.
