P: Mouse click inaccuracy : Straighten tool & Eye dropper on High DPI monitors at 250% OS scaling

On a HightDPI laptop, the straighten tool and the eye dropper do not click where the mouse points. This is a big enough problem because it makes these tools unusable. Unfortunately, this seems to be a problem of more than six years and still has not been fixed (https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-white-balance-dropper-target-location-is -offset-on-high-dpi-windows-devices / idi-p / 12250363). Could I get information on how this fix stands, especially since Photoshop doesn't have this problem, for example? I have an ASUS ProArt Studio laptop with a 16 "4K monitor with a 250% monitor setting.

No.  200% works but 300% does not. 400% also does not work.  At 200% the cursor shows as an eyedropper and selects the correct color.  Anything above 200% the cursor shows as a standard mouse pointer and selects the wrong color.

I created a color range mask in Lightroom Classic v14.1.1 On Windows 11 Home Edition but when trying to select a color, the actual color selected is below the pointer instead of the tip of the pointer.  I created the attached video to demo it.  Although the tip of the pointer is in the red area, it selects from the green area.  Also I can't click on the handle to move it to the green area because doing so again just re-selects an area below the pointer.

Same thing happens when creating a luminance mask but the other masks (brush, radial gradient) don't exhibit this issue.

Interestingly, I tried creating the demo using the screen recording option in the Snipping Tool but it caused my pointer to change to an eyedropper and was selecting colors/luminance values correctly!  So I recorded the demo on my phone to show the issue.

Here's the system info.  Any help is appreciated.

Hu, that is interesting.

This is just a shot in the dark, but did you enlarge the pointer size, by any chance? I know there are some quirks with larger pointers on macOS but you're on Windows, so that might not be it. Worth taking a look at though?

Why is it that Photoshop can be easily dragged from one monitor to another and rescales normally, and Lightroom produces all kinds of problems in the scaling of the user interface elements and in some places in the positioning of the mouse? The same company develops both products, so the company has the knowledge to develop "High Dpi" compatible software. Note: I use the "Font size: Automatic (default)" setting in Lightroom Classic.

I also bought a 27" ASUS PA279CRV 4K monitor in addition to my previously mentioned laptop with a 4K monitor. On this monitor, it is enough to set the monitor scaling to 150% in Windows 11. Unfortunately, the positioning problem also occurs on this monitor. .

There would be nothing wrong with this, if they shared an official support place with users, especially paid users, where errors can be reported. Currently, Adobe redirects here, which it then either reads or doesn't. But I think we have deviated a lot from the original problem. Although I had to post that criticism of the support, at least now it seems that they have started to deal with the error, at least based on the feedback. I'm happy about that now. Now let's focus on the error!

I think you will find Adobe Support is not outsourced but handled by Adobe employees in another location.... Adobe has many, many locations/offices globally.

If this is not the official support page, then what is, because Adobe redirects here from the support page.

Official support is typically via starting a chat. Most Adobe web pages have a Virtual Assistant button to start that. Initial chat is with a computer, You then insist on contacting a person. And then you might insist on a phone call.

This page for example:

https://helpx.adobe.com/tech-comm-suite/customer-support.html

or, perhaps a better example:

https://helpx.adobe.com/support/lightroom-classic.html

In theory, a phone number exists (perhaps another member has that)

/followup/if you use google on "Adobe Support Number" a few show up/

Be aware that the customer support appears to be out sourced, not a good thing.

Pawing off customers to the community pages appears to be a bad practice by some of those out sourced Adobe customer support employees. I was not aware some web pages did so, unless as a caveat of if help was not of value try the community pages. Basically that is offloading you to other customers that might perhaps be of help.

/followup/ Ah, I see, in a least one Adobe web page, you see "Get Answers from the Adobe Forums Community" I see that could imply a support page, but Community pages on the web are typically not support pages.

Now that is all about when you need to talk to someone. Adobe also has many support documents online for support.

If I reduce the font size in Lightroom or the magnification of Windows 11 to 150%, the error disappears (but the letters become unreadably small).

While I know that you probably want to get out every pixel you paid for on the 4K display. Perhaps consider reducing the resolution from 3840x2160, to 2560x1440, and not LrC Font size of 200 or above, and see if the words are readable.

Note, you might want to set the LrC font to medium before altering the resolution.
