my passport external hard drive not showing up in lightroom

I'm running Lightroom Classic version 10.2 on a macbook pro MacOS Mojave version 10.14.6. A new external hard drive-- MyPassport 4GB is not showing up in Lightroom although it is there in the Finder. Other external hard drives show up with no problem. I've downloaded the driver for using the MyPassport with a Mac. Any ideas?

Have you imported any images from the new drive?

If you haven't, the drive will not appear in Lightroom, which is not a file browser like the Finder.

Once you have imported at least one image from the drive, it will appear.
