NEF files - Lightroom Classic

Will Lightroom Classic ever be able to process NEF files?  If not, is it recommended that Nikon users just drop their subscriptions???

Each camera model produces unique files that need individual support. When a new camera model is released, support is added in (usually) the next Lightroom update.

So the question is, what exact camera model do you have, and what exact Lightroom Classic version number?

As far as I know, every Nikon camera's NEF files can be processed by LrC 13.3. So what happens when you try? Please be specific and detailed.
