New Lightroom without monthly fee

New Here ,
Sep 03, 2018 Sep 03, 2018

Hi - I've been using Lightroom 4.4. and I'd like to get a new version. As an amateur using Lightroom only a few times in a month, I don't see any sense in paying the monthly fee. This Lightroom 4 of mine I bought on CD-Rom in 2010 or something. Can you tell me if and how can I "one-time purchase" a recent standalone version of Lightroom (Lightroom 6 or 7 or so)? Or is it not possible anymore? Thanks in advance!

What the above reply is referring to is the only version newer than the one you are currently using that is still available without a subscription is Lightroom 6. Although Adobe is still selling it in both a Full and Upgrade versions it has since been superseded b y the subscript only LR 7. And because of that will no longer get any new updates of any type. Neither bug fixes or new camera support.

Only Lightroom 6 is still available as an perpetual license. You can buy it as a full version at Amazon and among others.

You can it also buy it from Adobe. There's also a update from earlier version available.

But you must know that there are no patches, bugfixes or updates for new cameras and objectives available.

Ok, thank you both! I guess even without those features it is an ok software and a considerable step up from my current 4.4? I'm shooting with Canon1dx/5d iv and some L-lenses.

LR 6 has some newer features from LR 4.4 but I'm not totally sure I would call it a considerable step up.

Another problem you may encounter is what OS are your running. LR 6, the most current version of it which is 6.14, needs a 64 bit OS and in the case of Mac one of the newer version of OS X.

See the Mac OS X support notes for OS support, double star ( ** ) note at this link.

Lightroom Classic system requirements

Although the link says LR Classic CC it is also for LR 6
