Nikon Z6ii G-type lens profiles

I've noticed that photos taken with my Z6ii have different names for the the same lenses I use on my D750 and the lens profile corrections are wrong for these photos.

For example, my 16-35 f/4 G lens shows as:

D750 - 16.0-35.0 mm f/4.0

Z6ii - VR 16-35mm f/4G

When applying lens corrections the default for the Z6ii and this lens is 'VR 16-35mm f/4G' and does not correct the distortions. If I select 'Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR' the distortions are corrected.

I'm using LR Classic 13.4, Camera Raw 16.4, Mac OS 14.5

Is there a way to assign the correct lens profile more easily?

Select the correct profile, then at Setup: where it now says 'Custom', select 'Save New Lens Profile Defaults'. From now on Lightroom Classic should select the correct profile.

Thanks Johan. I've just tried that and it seems to work inconsistently. I imported four new photos taken with the same lens. It applied the correct profile to two of them and the old one to two more. I'll have another look after my job tomorrow!

No, the new default settings don't seem to save. I've done that for all my lenses and for every new import I have to select the corrcte lens profiles again.

Maybe you should reset the Lightroom preferences: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

Thanks Johan. I've just done that and it might just have worked....!

It's been a quiet couple of weeks, but the default lens profiles are not saving. They always go back to the wrong ones.

I recently had a similar experience, albeit with a Canon lens. The only way that I could get LrC to retain my preferred lens default was to first use the 'Reset Lens Profile Defaults' option. After doing that the new deafult would stick..
