Open as layers in PS greyed out in Lightroom

New Here ,
Dec 31, 2024 Dec 31, 2024

Hi All

Firstly I am using LRC 14.1.1 and CR 17.1 with PS 26.0

My problem is when I try and open several images at once in LR to open as layers in PS ie..right-click> Edit in> Open as layers in Photoshop, it is 'greyed out' along with open as smart objects options in Photoshop and the merge to HDR and Panorama options.

1. I have more than one option selected

2. I have tried selecting from both the grid and film strip options

3. I have reset LR settings

Nothing seems to work. I have tried to look through the community but nothing jumps out to me that I have not already tried. What's worse there is no issue on my wife's computer...

Thanks in advance

Check that none of the images is missing. That may not be obvious (no exclamation marks) if you have smart previews for them.

While the versions of LrC and ACR you've listed do look OK to me - and should work together AFAICT - the symptoms are nonetheless those seen with a version incompatibility. Perhaps more than one version of PS is (or has been) installed on your PC, and your LrC is currently looking for the wrong one. If so: a reinstall of latest PS should probably resolve that.

@Limpopoboy

Could you please try using the basic edit option in Photoshop? If you receive a dialog indicating that all advanced features are disabled, please try the following steps:

  1. Reinstall Photoshop: This may enable the "Open as Layer" option.
  2. Clean Reinstall: If a regular reinstall doesn't work, try a clean reinstall of Photoshop.

If you continue to experience issues, please let us know. Thank you!
