Definitely get the drivers up to date.
I don't believe there's a problem with Radeon HD cards, and FWIW, I'm using a XFX AMD Radeon R9 280 with 3Gb. You're going to need a recent generation card with at least 2Gb of memory such as the AMD R9 2xx series or nvidia’s Geforce 700 or 900.

I also got it working using fviero's method. Here is the catch: I uninstalled the catalyst drivers and programs completely. I then downloaded the 14.4 version of the AMD drivers, released on 4/24/2014. It is the older version of the drivers. They include the 14.01 display driver, which appears to allow Lightroom to recognize OpenGL. They can be found under the previous drivers and software page (for windows). I tried the newest 14.12 driver package with no luck. I did not try the 14.9 driver package yet.
Here are older versions of the driver package:

It would be nice to know if this works for people with different variations of the HD cards.

Hey Stephen, great Thanks. I have a HD6870 and with 14.4 it works. I have testes the 14.9. Here is the same problem.
But! I don't see any that increases the perfomance, like you too.

I have finally had success with the HD 6570
I went back through previous drivers - as this seems to fix it for other people.
I had 14.12 installed at the start and went back to 14.9, then 14.4 before I got it working.
12/9/2014 14.12 Version: 3.3.13283 Core Profile Context 14.501.1003.0
9/29/2014 14.9 Version: 3.3.13084 Core Profile Context 14.301.1001.0
4/25/2014 14.4 Version: 3.3.12874 Core Profile Context 14.100.0.0
So, for the moment, I'll run with a 12month old driver
Now to see if there is any improvement in LR !
I have sent 3 logs to Eric to see if he can narrow down the issue.

Uninstall everything from AMD using Windows Add/Remove Programs and reinstall the drivers. Use version 14.4 from March, 25, 2014.

Hi All
Going back to 14.4 version seems to fix my problem.
1. Uninstall all the latest AMD driver(14.12)
2. Reboot
3. Download the older 14.4 version and install
4. Reboot
5. Start lightroom. and voila success.

Just finished removing and reinstalling everything AMD. It fixed GPU support in Lr CC for me.
1. Removed all amd drivers and applications using Add/Remove Programs
2. Reboot
3. Downloaded latest drivers for my Radeon HD 5xxx series
4. Installed the full suite (all options checked)
5. Reboot
7. Voila
I notice a difference to my card (which fails the OpenGL test). My Language version is 4.4 whereas Fviero's is 4.3.

I´m glad some of you got it working. The performance gains are "mixed", at least in my testing.
I´ve seen a good improvement when using the sliders and applying graduated filters.
No improvement or degradation when using the healing brush, it´s the same with GPU support turned on or off.
There was a noticeable performance loss when using brushes and GPU enabled. It´s much smoother with it turned off.
Looks like there we´re going to have to make some tradeoffs...

fviero‌ I think the key is to NOT install the latest driver. It seem that stephenf3025828‌ updated the one before the latest and it worked. I haven't tested this theory as yet but would do when I get home. Fingers crossed.

No no, the version 14.4 is one year old, the last release version was 14.12. The newest beta is 15.4.
I have tested yesterday the beta 15.4 with reinstall before. Now, the gpu acceleration is working in Photoshop but nevertheless not in Lightroom. I'll testing the 14.4 in the evening.

I just want to wrap things up here as to what solved the issue for me.
AMD drivers for the HD 5xxx DO NOT appear to be the latest driver released for more recent boards.
Since i started troubleshooting, my driver version DID NOT CHANGE.
I had a "cleanup" issue. I uninstalled everything from AMD e reinstalled everything back in and it did the trick. It is Important to notice that the latest driver version for the HD 5xxx series is THE ONE THAT APPEARS TO BE WORKING FOR MOST PEOPLE (Revision number 14.4 from March, 25, 2014). This is the latest driver for the HD 5xxx but not the latest for other boards.
So, people using the REAL latest drivers may have to do two things:
1. Downgrade to 14.4 and if that doesn´t work...
2. Remove everything from AMD and reinstall the 14.4 driver
That might fix the GPU support
On the performance side:
- Improvements when using the sliders. The effects on the picture are basically real-time
- Improvements when using radial and graduated filters
- No difference for the spot healing tool. It remais very slow.
- Performance is degraded when using local adjustment brushes (much smoother when the GPU support is disabled)
That´s what i got so far. Hope i´ve helped some of you here

Could you provide instructions, or a link, to how to uninstall everything from AMD and reinstall everything back?
No difference for the spot healing tool. It remais very slow.
Very interesting, I was wondering about this. I would be interested in hearing from others if the speed problem remains for spot healing. I would also be interesting in hearing if this also applies to brushing, or not.

You can uninstall AMD drivers and software using Windows Add/Remove Programs. The wizard will guide you through. I myself select the "Express uninstall all AMD software"...or something like that...
Brushing, at least for me, is slower with GPU support enable.

I'm using an Nvidia Quadro 600 graphics card and the latest version 347.88 drivers, with no issues being detected and enabled in LR CC. When using the Spot Healing brush it is sluggish compared to LR5 or with the Graphics Processor disabled in Preferences. The actual time to update the spot is very slightly faster, so overall about the same. All other control operations in the LR CC Develop module are about the same, but then I wasn't having any performance issues in LR5!
I do see a big performance hit when navigating images in the Develop module filmstrip. When selecting the next image it appears immediately (~.5 sec.), but not sharp. It then takes another 3.5 sec. or 4.0 sec. total for the image to snap with full sharpness. With the Graphics Processor disabled in Preferences it takes .5 to 1.0 sec. total for the image to appear sharp. This is at Fit view with Canon 5D MKII 21 Mp raw files on a 2560 x1440 NEC PA272w calibrated monitor.
I suspect my i7-860 CPU is higher-performance than my Quadro 600 GPU for these image processing functions. The Nvidia Quadro 600 has a PassMark score of 680 compared to Radeon 8950 with 2,778, which is 4x the performance. I have no performance issue using this card in PS CS6 or PS CC 2014. For now it appears best for me to leave the 'Use Graphics Processor' unchecked in Preferences. Fortunately I'm not experiencing any real issues with it disabled!
