Opening files to develop

When I select a library file in Lghtroom and then click on Develop, I only get a thumbnail of the photo I have selected in the top lefthand corner of the screen. The main screen is bright blue/green and has no image on it What am I doing wrong?

In the preferences, untick the option to use the Graphics Processor, restart and try again
