This post applies to Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop.
Feedback for Camera Raw should be posted here.
Update February 2025:
Adobe has introduced two Adaptive Profiles – Adaptive Color & Adaptive B&W.
Getting started with the Adaptive Profiles:
Check out the Help Page for more detailed usage information. For more technical information on the underlying technology, please refer to this blog post.
Please try the profiles and share feedback in this community forum thread. It would help to include details like how you access Camera Raw (via Adobe Bridge or Photoshop), your computer system details, and as much information as possible about what you like or do not like about the resulting image quality. Our team will continually monitor this thread to track issues and improve the future experience.
Best practices for using the Adaptive Profiles:
Try the new profile in the following scenarios:

I like the adaptive color profile. The only problem is the reds; it seems to overexpose them. This is not a big problem as I can lower the saturation in other sliders. Thank you.

Same here. On Fuji RAW's more than on Canon though. And easy to correct. (I have a preset made that's called 'DeTrump' 🙂

Absolute game changer. Speeding up my workflow tremendously. It sometimes has the tendency to go overboard with exposure, but as a new 'starting point' it's absolutely great.

Team, this is really good. I have tried it on several photos of different scenes, and it does a really fine job. Thanks, and keep up the good work.

The translation of Adaptive Color in Dutch is not good. Better is to use this: ’Adaptief kleur/zw’ .
Also the location in the Dutch version is not fine. Place it in the top and use a light line for the separation. This conform the English version.

Doing football pictures, hard in sunlight. Adaptive Color does a pretty good job, but often makes faces way darker so I have to do masks more often than before

When using Adaptive Color on raw files from Hasselblad X2D results always in too much saturation. Also when using 'Normal' Auto, always too much sat and vibrance.

I've been using adaptive profiles now for a month or two. At first, I thought it was getting me closer to what I was looking for, quicker. But after looking at a Fuji file using the Astia Fuji camera color. (with a preset that I always add), I think I am seeing what has been bugging me. Of course it's all personal taste, but the contrast transitions I think are too abrupt or too harsh based on my past editing style. Using adaptive profiles might be a bit too clinical for me. I haven't tried working my Nikon files, but I suspect I'm going to run into the same subjective issue. I realize you can fade adaptive profiles, but it looks like a strong contrast is built in and who knows what else. FWIW.

I like the new adaptive profile as well, but sometimes I have the feling that colours, especially green and red, are a bit overdone. Picture are taken with Canon EOS 6DMII and EOS R.

I'm also seeing this problem with reds. See the attached pictures. The first is with Adobe Color:
The second is with Adaptive Color:

I keep forgetting to use the Adaptive Presets!!
They are quite often very good, sometimes too bright and sometimes too dark. Occasionally I will try one and go back to the default.
The too dark/too bright ones can usually be handled in adjusting the amount of the adpative preset to use, but more often in masking.

I used the adaptive color for two weeks, and it stopped working. Now all I get is a blue screen with some black squares. I tried the adaptive black and white and got the same thing. All my other profiles work.

Has anyone found a way to use the Library module filter to find images in lightroom classic with adaptive profiles that need updating?
When doing a copy-paste of settings across a set of images in a collection (I think I did that on the Lr mobile - I work flexibly across both systems) I find that back on LrC those images need the profile updating. I'm losing track of which images I've revisited in a collection and which ones still need attention.
I can see the red dot on the edit status when viewing files in the Develop module (see attached image) - but it's tedious to have to do that on every image file in the collection. Being able to filter by profile status would probably help me.
Anyone got a solution?

LrC does not have any way to filter photos that need updating.
In Library, select all the photos that might need AI Updating.
From the menu, choose Photo > Develop Settings > Update AI Settings
Although this processes photos that might not need updating, LrC quickly skips over these, only updating the photos that need it.

Super answer - this is a great workaround for my problem and helps speed up workflow.
Great to know there's a keyboard shortcut CTRL-ALT-U which gets to that develop setting too, so all I now do is select all the images in the collection I'm working on and hit that key combination to be sure I've got them all up to date.
Thanks.
