P: Error when upgrading from legacy LR 6 to LR Classic 14

Community Beginner ,
Dec 04, 2024 Dec 04, 2024

HI,

today I licensed Adobe Cloud with LR Classic 14. I installed LR Classic 14. After start LR tried to upgrade my old legacy LR 6 catalog to the newest format. An error message occured.

Questions:

- Can LrC 14 migrate an old legacy LR 6 catalog?

- How can I avoid the error during upgrade?

Thanks.

Greetings all,

A new update for Adobe Photography Products has been released.  The February updates contain an update for this issue.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Thank you for being so patient.

The workaround is to install LrC 13.2, upgarde the Lr 6 catalog, then re-install LrC 14.0.1 and upgrade the LrC 13.2 catalog.

LrC can upgrade catalogs from all previous Lightroom versions.

What does the the error message say? Exact wording please.

Or post a screenshot. Please do NOT attach screenshots, use the Insert Photos button in the toolbar.

Hmm, yes we need to see the error. I suspect it is a dialog screen complaining that the lrcat-data file could not be found. As your catalog is old v6, their is in fact no lrcat-data file, and you should have had an option to never mind continue on.

The dialog screen in question is a bit poorly written, is it perhaps this one?

Hi, many thanks to dj_paige.

This workaround made it. Neither 1st nor 2nd level support knew about that.
