LR:
Windows 11 home
OS Build 26200.7019
Having an issue on a specific image trying to remove a stick.
I've rebooted windows and tried doing the removal again. Again it only shows black.
I tried another image and remove works fine. So far just this specific image on multiple tries.
I'll add replies if I encounter this again.

Of course, the problem with that photo doesn't occur on my Macbook Pro / LR 15.0 / Mac OS 15.7.1 or my ASUS mini-PC LR 15.0 / Windows 11. I tried with and without Detect Objects checked and immediately after restarting LR.
A few others have reported similar intermittent symptoms, but unless Adobe can reproduce this reliably, they're unlikely to pay attention (unless many more people report it).
To help narrow down possible causes, please do the LR menu command Help > System Info and attach or copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

@Yes ima Rocket Scientist: "Lightroom Classic is leaving a "ghost" outline of the removed content using generative AI."
It looks like you've applied Remove on top of an AI mask (e.g. Sky). Click the yellow AI Edit Status button and then Update:

Hello
With the new version, it's no longer possible to move generated removal masks using the mouse.
The image switches to a horizontal view, which makes it impossible to move!
I hope this is a bug that will be fixed quickly...Copy link to clipboard

I'm not observing the problem in my LR 15.0 / Mac OS 15.7.1 (see the attached screen recording). Unless Adobe can replicate the problem easily, they're unlikely to pay much attention. Next troubleshooting steps:
1. Do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.
2. If the steps you're taking look different than those in my screen recording, then attach a full-resolution screen recording similar to mine (not a phone video) showing what you're seeing:

I'm having the same issue as a lot of other users here(the remover tool just replacing rather than removing, and the quality has significantly dropped), with photos as an example. Even when I carefully detail only the wires and poles I'm trying to remove, it just gives me a gross AI version of it.
And, within the last week, I'm noticing it is even changing the image outside of my selections/highlights, bringing on a whole other unpredictable issue (see photos of couple's face)
Photos include the original, where exactly I highlighted, and the best of the generative removal options it gave me. I've been stuck on this exact photo for 45 minutes already and have tried everything in that blog that is being sent.

Subject: Bug Report and Complaint Regarding Erase Brush AI Feature in Adobe Lightroom Classic
Dear Adobe Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concern regarding a technical issue I have encountered with the Erase Brush tool, specifically the AI erasing function, in Adobe Lightroom Classic.
Despite the promising capabilities of the AI erasing feature, I have experienced persistent bugs that significantly hinder its performance and usability. The tool often fails to accurately remove unwanted elements, resulting in unsatisfactory edits and disrupting my workflow. These glitches detract from the otherwise excellent user experience I expect from Adobe products.
As a dedicated user of Adobe Lightroom Classic, I rely heavily on your software for professional photo editing. Therefore, I kindly request that your development team prioritize investigating and resolving these bugs at the earliest possible convenience.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and a future update that addresses these issues.
Best regards,
Punit

Hi, it would be great to add an eye correction tool. It could make everyone in the photo look straight ahead.

Just updated Lightroom Classic to 15 and then 15.0.1. These two updated broke three things.
1 - Generative AI Remove tool - Leaving bad texture with Colour infingment, the 14 version was the best so far.
2 - WHY is there another step to select the tool after using the shortcut "Q"? Its another step to use the tool between Remove and Distraction Remove. Is there a way to have the default Q to the remove tool. Tried to toggle with Shift but its assigned to masking.
3 - When selecting masking > People, It use to alo detect people. I have a single person on a clean background. and With this new update it can't detect the single person in the photo.

@G-pour-Tech: "WHY is there another step to select the tool after using the shortcut "Q"? Its another step to use the tool between Remove and Distraction Remove. Is there a way to have the default Q to the remove tool."
Normally, typing Q goes to the Remove panel, with the most recently used Mode (Remove, Heal, Clone) selected, and you can immediately make a selection with the brush. See the attached screen recording.
Restart your computer. If the problem persists, try resetting LR's preferences:
https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/
LR sometimes soils its preferences file, and resetting it can fix all sorts of wonky behavior. That article explains how to restore the old preferences if resetting doesn't help.

Please start a new thread for this issue -- it's unrelated to Generative AI Remove. Include the screenshot. Also, do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents in that thread so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

I'm just getting back into Lightroom after a few years hiatus so I decided to try out Generative Remove and while it was definitely neat, I think there's room for improvement. Reference the attached portion of before/after, you can see that GR did a decent job making up content for the area selected, building a door where previously there was a showcase. What would have been better IMO is if there was a way to AI-enable the Clone tool to tell it to look at the window to the left as what it should fill in the area I've removed.

Here is a very simple feature request. In fact Lightroom already has this feature.
When I rotate a photo to straighten out the horizon, the crop is bound by the original image size. I woud prefer if the crop allowed being extended outside the image boundaries and then use generative AI to fill those 'empty canvas' edges. Lightroom can already do this when merging a panorama from multiple photos. If there is a blank canvas (due to the scitching) it can fill those areas. It would be awesome if Lightroom had the same in the crop tool and use generative AI.

Camera Raw has this as a "Technology Preview", which you can enable:
https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/using/generative-expand.html
You can use this with LR Classic: Edit the raw in Camera Raw, then click Done. Go back to LR Classic, select the raw, and do Metadata > Read Metadata From File.
I haven't seen any indication whether Adobe intends to include this in LR.

That's cool! I'll give it a try. The reason I suggest it as a feature directly in Lightroom is to avoid invoking another app/program. I edit a lot of photos daily (often hudrets) and I have optimized my workflow to do everything in Lightroom. Every roundtrip to another program adds a significant amount of time and again if I want to tweak/change whatever I have done in another application.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. But all of the sudden when I use the remove or generative fill option, it just replafcces the selected areas with black. It was doing fine and just switched all of the sudden. I'm not sure if I accidentally changed something or ?

@tyePhoto Kimberly, please add your details to this existing bug report for AI Remove adding black patches:
It would be best, along with the screenshots, if you could attach the original photo as well. If the forum won't let you attach the file, upload it to Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive or similar free service and post the sharing link. Adobe is more likely to prioritize bug fixes if they have lots of examples making it easy for them to reproduce the problem.
