P: (Mac) Memory use increases until crashe

New Here ,
Oct 30, 2024 Oct 30, 2024

Hey,

For some time now my program memory in Lightroom Classic has been filling up - slowly and steadily up to about 80 or 100 GB! After that the program crashes. I have saved the current version of Lightroom. I use a Macbook M1 pro, 16 GB memory. Operating system Sequoia 15.01

What can I do?

Greetings Andreas

I had just the same issue, and were struggelig for a long time.

I did all the tricks in the book, that I could find.

To check if the same issue is whats causing your memory leak, try with a newly created empty library.

If this is working without the memory gobbling, import your prior library into this new one.. (Or start another new) ..

That really seems to work. I created a new catalog and then imported the old catalog. It took a long time, but the system is currently running stable. Hopefully it stays that way. Thank you for the tip.

Creating a new catalogue and importing the memory-leaking catalogue also worked for me.

Can someone interpret this crash log and help me diagnose the issue? LRC hangs just about every time I run it.

I have had the same problem when I try to import from my iPhone.  Sometimes when I just plug my iPhone into my MacBook Pro laptop with LR running, and as it tries to begin an import session, the memory consumption goes up to 90 or 100GB in just a minute or two before crashing.  I've gotten to the point where I just monitor memory and kill LR when it shoots above 30 or 40GB, and retry various combinations of LR restart, laptop reboot and iPhone reboot until something works.  I can supply info if desired.
