P: Locate folder > Error is displayed when tried to relink the folder present on NAS

Started on a Mac all was fine.  Moved to my Windows laptop.  My pics are on a NAS.  Did a find missing folder and it found the folder find on the PC.  I have upgraded my Mac so I want to move back.  No issues moving over the catalogs and starting the app.  The NAS folder was available and mounted under the Network prior to starting Lightroom Classic.  Had no problems navigating with the folders prior to starting.  Of course LR classic no longer knew where the mounted folder was so I when in did find missing folder.  I was able to navigate to the folder on the mac.  However when I selected the folder on the Mac, I am getting "An internal error has occurred.  invalid path" error.  Even thought I had no issues navigating to the folder...  So, now I have thousand of photos I cannot get to inside LR Classic, but no problems getting to under the Mac...  version is 14.1.1.

@Rikk Flohr: Photography this isn't fixed for me…

After multiple computer moves, I've lost a load of lightroom catalogs between 2019 and now. I'm now trying to resurrect a LR5 catalog to be able to salvage the *edits* on some of my old photos from 2013 and earlier. The catalog was converted fine, but as it was originally created on a windows PC, the network location referencing about 45k photos is in the form \\NETFLOPPY\Pictures\. I no longer have access to a windows machine, but the NETFLOPPY NAS is still in use.

When I attempted to locate the missing folder earlier this evening, I was getting the error:

I found this thread and updated my Lightroom to the latest version (14.5.1) and I'm still getting this error. Help please?

Greetings all,

A new update for the Adobe Photography products has been released.  The June update contains an update for this issue.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Thank you for being so patient.

The team is working on a way to ease this type of transition. Moving into bugs.

Hey @jspoon!

You mentioned the photos are stored on a NAS, but where is the catalog file located? If you haven't already, you might want to try resetting your Lightroom Classic preferences. Here's a guide on how to do that: https://adobe.ly/42snUuP

Another thing we can try is mapping the NAS shared folder with your images to a drive letter in Windows' File Explorer. Then, you can direct Lightroom's catalog in Windows to the images via the mapped drive letter.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Alek

I am experiencing the same issue. Moved from PC to Mac. Photos stored on NAS, catalog stored on Mac. I cannot go back to the PC and make changes as that machine is no longer available. Did I just lose my edits on 30k photos?

The NAS is connected, I have granted all permissions, yet I'm still getting the Invalid Path error.

Is this a Mac problem or an Adobe problem? How can I fix it?

Hey @69832146! Welcome to the community!

To help narrow down the issue, can you let me know if you've tried any of the solutions I mentioned earlier in the thread?

Thanks!

Alek

I'm having the exact same issue only my old Windows machine is gone and I don't have an option to go back and change the directory on the Windows side. I've tried everything else I've found on these forums going back to mid 2023 when people started reporting this. Most recently I've right clicked on a folder to try and work up the chain by 'finding parent' but the only option I have is to locate the missing folder and that just leads to 'invalid path'. I've also gone to Mac Settings and gave system wide disk acess to LRC.

I'm flat out stuck. I can't get to any of pictures. I don't understand why Adobe doesn't say there is a bug and fix this. The same thing happening to many, many people in the same situation.
