Pretty cool. I tried removing a nestle quik bottle from a photo. It didn't remove it, but it replaced it with what looked like a coffee cup. The subject in the photo was wearing a hoodie with draw strings hanging down. The AI generator used one of the draw strings to look like it was a straw coming out of the cup.

Hi,
I'd like to say that I love the feature. The problem is that it only works with Windows Firewall Disabled.
Any idea why?
Best regards,
Ivan

The reason being that the AI feature uses the Adobe Firefly servers. That being said, you can configure the Firewall to exclude Lightroom Classic (LrC), which means that the firewall is still functional for everything except LrC.

Just to double-check, you made both inbound and outbound rules as shown in the screenshots below:

Yes,
I confirm that both inbound and outbound rules are defined as per your screens.
As far as I enable Windows Firewall I get this:

@Ivan Temelkov: "Generative Remove Failed. We've encountered an issue and can't complete your request at this time. Please try again later."
Yeah, there have been a number of reports about that error message, with no authoritative answers as to what's causing it or how to work around it.

With firewall disabled I haven't experienced any issues.

With firewall enabled it always fails.

I didn't follow the recommended workflow and however, I had excellent results so far. Sometimes surprising and funny, e.g.. wishing to remove my wife from a desert landscape she was replaved by a cute dog...

The healing brush is definitely improving. It is almost to the level of photoshop. I still have some remnants that I have to remove

Most complaints about Remove are addressed in the article. But if it doesn't help, please attach a full-resolution JPEG exported from the unmodified original photo, so we and Adobe can see the issue in detail. With nearly everyone who has posted a problem photo, we've been able to show how to quickly remove the desired objects.

@andrew_0076: "The spots removed do not stay when moving to the next photo, you have to update it, and if you do a large export you don't get the images you expected."
These symptoms can occur when LR can't write the .lrcat-data file for some reason, either because LR has corrupted it or there is a permissions issue. LR stores computed masks in that file. Try these steps:
1. In LR, do Edit > Catalog Settings > General > Show. That will open Windows File Explorer on the current catalog folder.
2. Exit LR.
3. Move the file <catalog>.lrcat-data to the Desktop.
4. Start LR.
5. In Library, select all photos and do Photo > Develop Settings > Update AI Settings. That will recompute all the AI masks, which could take a while. But it won't update Generative Removes, so you'll have to go to each photo with Remove, click on Remove, and then Update.

I have one complaint about Lightroom Classic Generative Remove. After I highlight a number of small dust spots to remove, I want to see what it looks like in the image. Unfortunately the image continues to show little, I don't know how to describe them other than they look like little, tags with tails do not disappear so I cannot see the results. When I close the section, then I can see them but I cannot scroll through the different choices. Please, remove the little tags so we can see what is actually happening to the image. Thank you.

In the Remove panel, change Tool Overlay to Never (keyboard shortcut H).

@fred333: "the modifications made seem to be also in the ORIGINAL file! the complete opposite of the LrC philosophy... no way to find the imported file without the modification (and sometimes badly) made by the Generative AI."
The Remove command is like every other LR Develop settings -- the edits are stored in the catalog and the image in the photo file itself is never modified. Please describe in detail the precise steps you're taking and what you're observing. Full-resolution screenshots (not cell-phone pics) of the entire LR window are often very helpful.
