P: Preparing File for Editing takes inordinate amount of time

Explorer ,
Oct 15, 2023 Oct 15, 2023

13.0.1 on Mac Studio M2 Max 96GB RAM.

When trying to open a photo in a third-party app for editing, the "Preparing file for editing" progress bar instantiates but doesn't progress beyond 0%. If I view the source image folder in finder, I can see that the tif or PSD has been created almost immediately as expected, but then nothing happens...the progress bar stays stuck and the third-party editor doesn't launch. I've been able to reproduce with On1 Suite, Luminar Neo and SilverEfex. On rare occasions, when I've had the patience, the third-party application has eventually launched after 20-30 minutes.

This worked as expected in versions prior to 13.

I've tried:

  • AutoFx - 10 seconds
  • Nik - greater than 1 minute
  • Topax - greater than 1 minute

I am going to have the team take a look at it.

Thank you for the report.

I am having this same issue with acrobat. The same issue has happened when editing a document on two different devices and different browsers.

Would love some help with this. Literally, just purchased the subscription and the editor is having this issue with endless loading under "Preparing File for Editing..."

Didn't change any settings and was just editing a few mins prior to this happening. Very Frustrating and annoying as I have a deadline to meet.

Has there been resolve for this issue.  I just upgraded to version 14.5 and I now get the stuck progress bar.  The plug-in I use is ON1 Raw. Odd thing is... it does not happen during first few calls but then it pops up.   I close LR and start it over and it works fine.   WHen it does work there is almost no delay in transfering to the plug-in.
