Not sure when how this started (New Mac Studio and updated to Sonoma for 2024) but as of the beginning of this year all my RAW files imported by LR, have permissions messed up - leaving only (Me) with R/W - and no access to (Everyone). In the past - staff and everyeone have been R/W - which is normal.
Obviously I can go and fix it on existing files - but I'd like to correct the issue for future imports.
LR Classic has Full Disk Access (Privacy & Security)
A random sampling of other various files (including LRCAT) shows no issue other than on the LR imported RAWs.
Any ideas?
I believe this is the new normal in MacOS Sonoma. Why is this a problem? I have the same permission settings for those image folders that are on my internal hard disk, and Lightroom works fine with them.

Imported from where? Disk or network or memory card?

Imported from Sony formatted memory card (same card as 2023). Nothing has changed in my shoot/import/post workflow process.

I just checked this and verified - drag copy from the card to the desktop (no LR) indeed results in the same strange "no access" permissions!
It was alarming since this is not the traditional Mac setup. Tightening security I'm guessing. I'm not collaborating on a network so no issues I suppose though I do save copies to externals which might be accessed by (not me) in the future.

Presumably they should inherit permissions from the parent folder.

This has always been the case - but not any more. The parent folder permissions are normal, while the files themselves have this new set up.

What happens when you copy images in the Finder? I don't use LR import from card, I import from the hard drive.

I answered this above - Finder = drag copy to desktop from card - same no access result while parent folder permissions are normal.

Just a weird "new" Mac thing in Sonoma. Interesingly I can't find any other file type that this happens to.

Yeah something has gone wrong with your permissions if its happening in the Finder as well.
