my computer crashed. restored to original factory state. reinstalled Lightroom and Photoshop. image files on external hard drive not lost. copied Lightroom backup catalog to laptop. everything seemed to be working until I tried to export an image and then got the error message that "no rendered photo exists on disk". image show up in library and the image count is correct in the panel showing files. did the something become unlinked when I copied the backup catalog over to the laptop?
You may need to reconnect the images on your external drive to the LR catalog file.
You probably have exclamation marks on your images. that mean LR can't find them. Take a look at this link to find missing images.

First you have to take a screen shot of your computer screen. That varies depending on the OS you are using.
Then you have to actually log into the Adobe forum website and start a reply then click the icon in the top tool bar of the reply window.

And you won't. Only the catalog file is backed up. The .lrdata folder holds the previews which LR will rebuilt if it is missing.

Like I said that folder hold the preview that LR builds. If there isn't a .lrdata folder LR will recreate it and then place the preview files in that folder under other subfolders.
What happens when you click the Export button.

Are you at or near you computer? If so post a screen shot as asked before.
That error message is tell you LR can't find the image you are trying to export.

If your old notebook still functions at all you might want to deactivate your Adobe programs. If you are a CC subscriber you can also do that from your manage account page.
Also your problem was more than likely a hard drive problem which can be replaced on most Mac or Windows notebooks. At least the older Mac notebooks. Newer ones, from 2012 onward not so much but still possible with a little work.

Here's a wild guess.
Are there special characters in the file name (except for underscore or hyphen)? Are there periods in the file name?
Tell us the EXACT file name of this file.
