Files imported through lightroom into folder on hard drive. All jpgs showing in lightroom in folder, but not the raw files (dng). If I try to synchronise, the dng files are showing as greyed out. Lightroom 14.2, Windows 11
In the end I deleted my Lightroom catalogue files, uninstalled lightroom and did a clean reinstall. This worked, I no longer have a duplicated drive. Bit of a faff to reconnect the files to a new catalog, but easier I think than the suggested resolution from Adobe.

What were your import settings? Can you show us a screen capture of the Import dialog box? Please use the "insert Photos" icon to include your screen capture in your reply.
Also, in the Library Module turn off Filters (Ctrl-L once or twice) and then expand all stacks (Photo->Stacking->Expand All Stacks) and then show us a screen capture of your Library Module (entire screen) Grid view where you think the missing photos should be.

I've included screen shot of the library module - the jpgs are all visible, but not the dng files. The other screen shot is of the import dialogue, you can see in that the dng files are visible (greyed out as they actually have imported to the folder on my HD) it's just in the library module they are not appearing. I have tried synchronising the folder in LR, but it just shows me similar screen to the import one, if I click on all, both jpgs and dng files are greyed out (as you'd expect) clicking on new shows nothing.

"If I try to synchronise, the dng files are showing as greyed out. Lightroom 14.2, Windows 11"
That indicates that the DNGs are somewhere in your catalog. Troubleshooting steps:
1. Make sure the menu item File > Library Filters > Enable Filters is unchecked -- you may have a filter applied that filters out non-JPEGs.
2. In the Catalog panel in the left side of Library, click All Photographs.
3. Do the menu command Photo > Stacking > Expand All Stacks.
4. If you still don't see the newly imported DNGs, expand all the folders in the Folders panel and the attach a full-resolution screenshot (not a phone pic) of the *entire* LR window.

I thought Steps 2 & 3 had resolved it, but something odd is happening when 'All Photos' is displayed, I can see the dng files plus the jpg files but then also same photos which are showing as dng+jpeg. If I go back to the folder in Library the dng files are still not showing. See attached screen shots.

The screenshot shows you've stumbled over a longstanding bug that Adobe has never prioritized to fix:
See here for how to correct it.

Thank you (though that all looks a bit complicated) - slightly worried I might do something wrong! But I'll give it a go.

Yup, that's why Step 0 in that help article is making a backup of your catalog.

Even though this is the answer that is marked "Correct", in my opinion it is not the correct decision. By deleting your catalog files, some of your work in your old catalog file is lost — collections, virtual copies, pick flags, edit sequence and a few other things) and depending on what setting you had in the old catalog, you may also lose your edits and user-provided metadata. Fixing the problem (using the instructions given by @johnrellis ) would be the "Correct" solution, not deleting catalogs.
