Raw image support for Canon 5D Mk IV

New Here ,
Sep 09, 2016 Sep 09, 2016

Just got my camera in today! The new Canon 5d mark iv! I've been waiting so long and was so excited to receive it. I started shooting about the house getting used to the new features, moved the files over to my Macbook and wasn't able to open them in adobe photoshop or lightroom. From what I understand the images won't be accessible until the new updates are available. Does anybody know how long I have to wait to use my new camera in raw? When will the new updates be out?

See the thread right next to this one: LR compatibility with Canon 5D Mark iv raw file format?

Basically it will take until the next Lightroom update for support to appear. It is not known when that will happen. Probably will not take long but might be a few weeks to a few months.

Ok. So I waited until the next update made by Apple and just to report and close this issue. I can now see and import from the camera to Lightroom CC using the cable that came with the camera. It looks like it was a missing component from Apple that was yet to be fixed that did not allow the importing.

Thank you.

My downloaded RAW files from my Canon 5D IV work fine in Lightroom 6.8 (disk version), until somehow a few randomly become 'corrupted'. It's happening before I optimize them sometimes, but other times after I've spent a good deal of time working on them, outputting them for prints (which look perfect), and then the next day "The file appears to be unsupported or damaged" appears when I attempt to open that same file from yesterday. Anyone else having this issue? Canon CPS tech told me today "Not our problem". Screen Shot 2017-04-19 at 7.30.48 PM.png

If it's only a few photos, and the rest are fine, then you have a hardware malfunction that is corrupting these files. The most likely culprit is your hard disk is going bad, and I would run diagnostics on the disk.

If it's all photos from this particular camera, then perhaps your Lightroom has been (accidentally) replaced by an earlier version of LR — so please look up what version of LR you have installed by going to Help->System Info and reporting the version of LR shown there.
