raw iphone photos on mac appear as jpeg in lightroom

Community Beginner ,

My raw files from my iphone 13  appropriately automatically appear on my mac book pro as raw files in photo library.  When I attempt to download from photo library on my mac to lightroom classic they appear as jpeg files.  How do I download as raw files?

Thank you,

FIGURED IT OUT!!

IPhone photos on my phone are set to Raw.

Under iphone library

highlight photos you wish to export

go to file/ export

choose tiff, png or jpeg

export to icloud desktop

computer will let you know that it is finished

go to lightroom/ import/ - as always make sure proper images are
highlighted.

I tend to use png, but have used tiff on occasion. Certainly better than
jpeg for quality images.

Most of my images are from my sony, but sometimes I get a quality photo
from my iphone.

There is no function or capability in Lightroom Classic that will turn a RAW into a JPG. So something else is happening. Perhaps your camera is really set to take only JPGs? Or perhaps your camera is set to take both RAW and JPG, and you are only importing the JPGs?? (I'm not a user of iPhones, but it is my understanding that the new ProRAW format is not supported by Lightroom Classic, if that's what you are doing then that's the reason, and you need to set up your iPhone to take DNG photos and not ProRAW photos)

Check your iPhone Settings - Photos - Transfer to Mac or PC. If you have set this to 'Automatic', then photos and videos will be transfered in 'a compatibe format', which no doubt is JPEG.

If you install Lightroom on the phone, Add your raw files (or set up an album for Auto-Add) from the Camera Roll. The raw images will automatically sync to Lightroom Classic as raw images. First choose a receiving folder in LrC Preferences, Lightroom Sync tab. These files in the Adobe cloud will count against your storage quota so you'll want to delete them from Lr Mobile after they've synced to LrC and have been backed up.

The way I do it (a bit different but also works) is to locate all the raws in the Apple Photo's app then use this option to save to the desktop or folder, then Import. What I get of course is a raw:

SaveOriginal.jpg

ExportfromPhotos.jpg

When I use these steps, the Image gets transferred to the desktop as a DNG file.   Does yours still have the raw extension,  in order to use this file in Luminar Neil, it needs to have a .RAW extension

You have responded to a three year old. Please start a brand new thread, and explain the problem in detail, from the beginning. People will be happy to help you in a new thread. If your question is really about Luminar, I advise you to find a Luminar forum, not an Adobe forum.
