Re-import issue

New Here ,
Jul 15, 2025 Jul 15, 2025

Hi all

I am experiencing a strange issue.

I had a catalogue crash, and restored to the last backup catalogue just before the issue.

Now, I have raw files in a folder on a disk, that was edited before the crash, but now after the crash, there is no way that I can import these files again.

Obviously the batch first imported were my best rated and selected images.

I have synced the folder, re-imported the folder and all of that, but no luck.

I see the file and XMP on the disk, but on the import dialogue, then all is greyed out.

Are these files still linked to the "corrupted" catalogue?
If so, how do I unlink them and link to the current catalogue (if that is the case)?

If you restored the last backup catalog, all you have to do is unzip and then open this backup catalog, and you should be able to begin working. No importing needed, no sync folder (which never solves these types of problems). So despite your title, this is not a re-import issue.

If your photos have exclamation point icon or if the folders have question mark icons, this document explains how to fix this. Again, no importing needed and no sync folders (very bad in this situation).

You should not import files again!!! If you replace the crashed catalog with the backup copy, then you are good to go. The only files you may have to import again are those images you imported just before the crash, and after the latest backup was made.

By the way, I cannot see your file attachments (or anyone's file attachments). From now on, please use the "Insert Photos" icon to include your screen captures in your message.
