I'v recently purchased a new iMac. My old iMac is still running a licensed version of lightroom, but this machine has gotten to slow. I'd like to use it on my new iMac. My iMac supplier has moved all the data and software from my old iMac onto my new iMac. But on my new iMac, every time I open Lightroom, I've being asked to start a trial or to purchase lightroom. I've purchased lightroom in a shop in Belgium in 07/2016 and still have the invoice. But meanwhile I've lost my CD-rom, so also my license number or redemption code is lost or whatever is needed to activate it again. For all my other software I still have my CD-rom and activation codes, but this one somehow has gotten lost.
What should I do to get this software running again on my new iMac?
I'm running Mac OS sierra
Thanks a lot ! in advance.
Jan
OK, Thanks everyone for the much appreciated help!
I finally called Adobe in Brussels. The contact phone number is there on the website but, to me, very well hidden. Now I know where to look for it, I can not understand how I overlooked it. But anyway I've gotten a friendly English speaking man on the phone and he helped me to activate it again in a few minutes it was solved.
They mailed the correct code to me. I make sure I have it stored in several locations now.
Thanks again to all!

First, you could try to find the serial number on the old computer by looking for it in the file described at this link next to serial number
Preference file and other file locations | Lightroom Classic CC and Lightroom 6
Please be sure to heed these instructions:
Note: The user Library file is hidden by default on Mac OS X 10.7 and later. For temporary access to the user Library file, press Option and choose Go > Library in the Finder.
Lastly, you should never be in a situation where you can't find your serial numbers (for Lightroom and all other software). You need to develop a method of keeping track of these serial numbers in case you ever need them. I use a text file, which is backed up to the cloud.

Dear dj_paige,
I can only find (on my computer it is in dutch) :
- Macintosh HD/library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe lightroom AMT
But no serial shows up.
In AMT I can see 3 maps : AMT, InstallerResources and Legal
in AMT there is a file called application.xml witch mentions

Did you read the part about how the file is hidden?

Yes, I read it and followed the instructions. The above tread does not show all of my answer.
I found a xml file whit serial number mentioned 3 times. Should I write it here in this tread? Is it OK or shouldn't I keep it secret?
it starts with 8048A5DF...

As per Paige- "find the serial number on the old computer"
See the following quote from Jao in Post#7 here-
how do i find my serial number? i have lost the box and my disk.
"On Macs the registration file resides in ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom.
Go to Finder, hit command-shift-G and paste the above from the tilde to Lightroom in the dialog and you'll see it. If you open that file with TextEdit, you'll see that it is a simple xml file with the serial no clearly marked."

This URL shows presets. But I already found a xml file with the serial in. Should I write it here or keep it secret?

Do not put serial numbers, social security numbers, home phone numbers, credit card numbers, etc. here in a PUBLIC forum.
Lightroom serial numbers will not have letters in them, they are all numbers.

So this seems not to be the serial? Than
it starts with 8048A5DF...

I'd like to help further, the file should be there, but I cannot help with Mac issues. Someone else can definitely help.
You can also go to your account at Adobe.com to find the serial number.
As I said before, you need to find a way to keep track of ALL of your serial numbers (not just Lightroom) so you will never find yourself in the situation where you can't find a serial number.

On my old Mac I can only find this
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Lightroom AMT/AMT/application.xml
This file shows a 24 digit TrialSerialNumber is that what I'm looking for?

Did you try to find the hidden files, as previously explained?

Yes, I think so. By hitting alt=option while clicking on go. Library shows up wich is normally hidden. Are there other maps hidden?

Did you try looking at Adobe.com?

I'm not a Mac person either, so I don't know if you're looking in the right folder.
But Lightroom serial numbers start with 1160 (at least on Windows), and contain 24 digits. (again, do not post the number here)
I don't know why it says TrialSerialNumber - trial versions don't have a serial number.

ok Thanks Per. So this serial might be the right one.
dj, the first thing I tried is adobe.com but there is no help there for lost serials as far as I know.
What should I do if this TrialSerialNumber is the right one? I need an activation code, not?

The link I gave describes how to find your serial number at Adobe.com

The serial number is all you need, there is no activation code.
Assuming that this is Lightroom 6 (which I never used), the activation should happen automatically when you enter your serial.
If this is Lightroom 5, it doesn't use activation.

@ dj : as mentioned I tried that link. But I don't see which one of these options can help me out.
I'v purchased my LR in a store but don't have redemption or packaging code, don't have it on my adobe account. It ends by telling me to purchase genuine software.
@ Per : the TrialSerialNumber is not valid so it i've tried.

What version of Lightroom are you talking about? I have old versions of Lightroom 4 and Lightroom 5 on my Mac, and here is a snip of the Finder window showing the two registration files:
I strongly suspect you are looking in the wrong directory.

@dj : So, Ok it's no xml extension. Thanks for pointing me out
@ jim wilde : when I search for lightroom 6.0 (my version) I can only find a mail pointing me out that my trial version will end. I start thinking that I never activated my purchased copy. But than again, how is it possible that I have Lightroom open on my old Mac.
I don't have a folder name "lightroom" at the end of the URL. I have a folder named "lightroom AMT"
I must be doing something wrong.
