Remove tool leaving a ghost

Since I downloaded the latest version of LR CC (14.0.1) (Mac Studio - OS Sequoia v 15.0.1) the Remove tool is not working correctly. No matter which image I use the remove tool always leaves a faint image of the object. Even if I run the remove tool a second or third time the ghost image remains. Please fix this bug. Thanks.

My experience is that this will happen if you use the Remove tool on top of a mask.

Use the Remove tool first, then create the mask.

This is not a bug. Update the mask. You should see a red dot underneath the masking icon showing you that this is needed.

To explain what's happening: Let's suppose you made a sky mask to darken the sky a bit. There was a kite in the sky, so the mask does not include that kite: it will have a gap in the shape of the kite. Then you decide to remove the kite. The kite is now gone, but the gap in the mask is still there. That means that the gap where the kite used to be will not be darkened by the mask, and so you see a 'ghost kite'. Removing first solves this, updating the mask after you removed the kite will solve it too.

Well explained, and it makes sense.

Thanks for your suggestion.
However, this issue occurs every time I try to remove an object* before* doing
anything else to the image, so it is not the case where I have used a mask
and then tried to remove an object within the mask.

In that case check the opacity setting of the tool. Maybe this is not 100%.

Thanks for the suggestion but the opacity setting is at 100%.
There have been so many good responses but nothing has fixed the problem. I
think that later today I will sign out of Adobe, clear the cache etc and
reboot my Mac. Hopefully, that will solve the problem.

There is no red dot under the mask, so I have to assume that it was updated
with the last LR CC update, which is when this problem occurred.
Thanks for your suggestion.

Thanks for your reply.
However, I do not use the remove tool on top of a mask as I was aware of
this issue in that situation. Nothing has changed in my technique other
than the recent update for LR CC. I have rebooted my Mac but it made no
difference with this issue.
Appreciate your input.
