Select a Source Window Opens on it's own

New Here ,

I dont know if this is bug/tech issue or user error.  As this has never been an issue for me before.  However, it's driving me crazy now. For the last two days, while I am in using Lightroom Classic, the "Select a Source" window just opens up while I am in the Develop tab working on my edits.  I either hit Esc or Cancel and it returns to what I was doing.  But a few minutes later it does it again.  I continously does it over and over.  What have I done wrong?

You can see under this window, my develop tab is opened and I was working on the photos.

Have you tried resetting the LrC preference file as described in Method 1 of below linked Adobe Help document?

By default, LR will open the Import window (which is where you see "Select a source") whenever Windows tells it there is a new drive or device connected to the computer.

You might have a loose or flaky cable or port, or a device might be turning itself off and on periodically.  You could disconnect external devices one-by-one to see if you can identify a culprit.

Alternatively, you may have some impolite background utility that is periodically creating and destroying a virtual drive. That has been reported here a couple times over the users.

You could keep a File Explorer window up with This PC selected to see if you can identify devices/drives that are coming and going.

And finally, if you don't really care about that, you could uncheck the option Preferences > General > Show Import Dialog When A Memory Card Is Detected. That should stop the Import window from appearing, but you'll have to manually click Import whenever you insert a memory card or other device to import into LR.
