Single catalogue makes lightroom slow.

Hello everyone,

My lightroom has been super slow lately. I see each button loading and it takes a while to change from library to develop interfaces.

Trying to use the mask effect is so laggy. It was just super slow.

I read that sometimes the catalogue size can make the program slow so I made a new catalogue and now it seems to be working fine once again.

My question however is on Adobe official page it says catalogues are optimized for hundreds of thousands of photos (I had about 30 000 photos in my catalogue).

So do large catalogues slow lightroom down or is there another issue I'm facing?

Please make sure you have installed the latest NVidia studio driver for this GPU. (Do not use the game drivers)

No, they don't as a rule. And a 30,000 images catalog is not large at all for Lightroom Classic standards. A large catalog is a few hundred thousand images. Some photographers have catalogs with a few million images.

There are plenty of causes of slow catalogs, and I would say that the size of the catalog is not in the Top 25. Try to figure out the cause of slowness rather than jumping to the conclusion that its the size of the catalog.

If masking is laggy, this has nothing to do with the catalog size. It is quite likely due to slow CPU and or GPU. Please provide the information at Help->System Info as text, down to and including the GPU information. We don't need and don't want anything after that.

Hello dj_paige, I have a  GT 1030 card and it seems there is no studio driver for this card. It could explain why my LRC is si slow since May ? it was working before with even an intel UHD Graphic 630. I tried a lot of things without success. thanks if you can help.
