Slow Zooming in and out

Since I upgraded LrC from 13.2 to 13.3 it becomes extremely slow when zooming in and out of an image. Sometimes it hangs for up to 30s. LrC 13.2 was extremely fast and not buggy at all.

 

I use LrC on an asus Z13 with i9 and RTX 3050 Ti. LrC is using the RTX card and not the Intel.

I upgraded this afternoon to LR 13.3 as well and it's super slow on my system too.  I've rebooted a few times and am primarily seeing non/slow performance when moving sliders in the developer module.  My c:\ drive, which is where my catalogue resides, is a Crucial P3 4TB PCIe 3.0 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD and is 52% consumed.

You've got the latest Nvidia Studio driver, just released 5/21/2024. You could try rolling back to LR 13.2 and an  older Nvidia Studio driver to (relatively) quickly see if either is the proximate culprit.

Hi @John R Ellis, despite having the "Email me when someone replies" box checked, I haven't gotten emails for any of this - so apologies for the delay.  I work full time, have kids and have next to no time to work on images as-is, so something like this is hard for me to make time to do, and frankly it's REALLY disappointing.  I built this system, which is respectable and should be more than enough, just over a year ago and it's a beefcake.  This perpetual back and forth with Lightroom working, then not, is so very frustrating and frankly makes me want to take my business elsewhere.

I confirm ! Performance of this version 13.3 have become catastrophic : very slow... The worst in many years. I had never observed such a loss of performance (compared to the previous version) during any past updates (starting from 2006 en Lighjroom 1). Really....

 

I was an "Official Adobe Beta Tester" for several years (from Lightroom 1 to Lightroom 8 Prerelease). My catalog contains approximately 750,000 RAW files... And until now, everything was extremely smooth (specialy after 2020 on the Apple Silicon). But since version 13.3, it has become a sort of nightmare.

 

I observed this collapse in responsiveness on both of my machines : a MacBook Air M1 with 16 GB of RAM and 2 TB of SSD. And a Mac Mini M1 also with 16 GB of RAM and 2 TB of SSD. I attempted to optimize the catalogs on both machines : but unfortunately, I couldn't restore normal responsiveness.

LrC 13.3.1 / CameraRaw 16.3.1, started with one update before that.

Zooming, cropping and pasting settings is horribly slow. Yes, up to 30s.  And if you bring a couple thousant photos back from an event shoot... no, Lr as it is now IS JUST NOT suitable for professional work. At all.
