Old software never works on RAW files from new cameras. You should consider upgrading to the subscription model and the newest Lightroom Classic will be familiar and work. Alternately you can use the free from Adobe program called DNG Converter. It will make RAW DNG copies of your RAW ARW files that are compatable with your old Lightroom program.

Hello I am running the latest version of LR CC and my SONY files all of a sudden are greyed out when trying to import them into a catalog. I've had the camera for closed to a year and never had a problem before. Only thing i've done differently at my end was to change from Uncompressed RAW to Compressed RAW. Can you please help me?

There is no Lightroom CC anymore. There is Lightroom Classic (for the desktop) and Lightroom (for the cloud). What exact version of Lightroom are you running? What Sony camera are you using? What model? Have you changed/upgraded/updated Lightroom since you last successfully used it?

Hello thanks for your reply. I am using the latest LR classic (Desktop) I do keep up with updating to the latest version since I have the creative cloud subscription and the process is seamless. I use the Sony A7iii with version 3.01

I'm grabbing at straws here. "Latest" doesn't mean a lot. Many users think they are using the latest when in fact they are not. IF you are using Lightroom Classic 8.4.1, and you are using graphics acceleration, is your graphics driver up to date? Have you tried disabling graphics acceleration to see if that makes a difference? Will the images open in Camera Raw if you try the Bridge approach? What operating system are you using? When did this problem begin? Was it when you switch to compressed raw files? I'm asking a lot of questions for which I don't have definite answers. But hopefully others will be reading along and will have ideas.

I'm not a Mac user, so I'm at a bit of a disadvantage. But you are NOT up to date. The current version of Lightroom Classic is 8.4.1. You might want to consider updating and see if that makes a difference.I know there are problems with the Catalina operating system and Lightroom, but I haven't followed all the issues. If you browse this forum there is a featured comment that has links to some articles that you might want to consider looking at. Sorry, but I'm out of ideas.

Thanks Jim. I'll see why my CC desktop app is not giving me the latest update of LR. Thanks for all the help.

"Lightroom Classic 8.4.1 works with macOS 10.15 (Catalina) but have these known compatibility issues."
"...older versions of Lightroom Classic were neither designed nor tested to work on macOS Catalina. They are not supported in any way for use on macOS Catalina."
So- 8.4.1 is needed with Catalina.! (v8.3 is not compatible)
