Subfolders now just show first letter of name...

instead of full name. Each letter is the first letter of the named subfolder.

Use your mouse to grab the right edge of the panel and drag to the right to expand.

Have you tried hovering with the mouse until you see the double-headed arrows. Then drag the panel to the right – see image below
