Sorry I'm sure this has been asked but I couldn't find it. Anyways I have photos on one catalog and I created a collection and sync it to the cloud. Now I want to sync photos that are in a different catalog and sync them to the cloud as well. The problem is, it's telling me I can only sync one catalog. Is there a way or workaround to syncing multiple catalogs? Also, if I choose to sync another catalog what happens to the photos I already have sync prior from the first catalog I synced photos in?
Thanks.
You can't sync more than one catalogue, and there's no workaround.
If you sync a different one, the previous catalogue's photos are removed from sync.

Not since the "Sync Catalog Recovery" feature was introduced in 6.8, John. Now if you sync a different catalog the previously synced photos remain in the cloud and are ADDED to the new catalog.

But the other catalog and the collections in it are then not synced with LR Mobile. You still can only sync one catalog at a time and actually only Collections in that one catalog.

Yes, I had intended to remove John's first sentence from the quote, as my response only refers to his second comment about existing sync images being deleted.

This looks like it could get confusing, the synced Collections from the earlier Catalog are now being included in the newly synced Catalog.
Lots more info to manage!!

Thank you, Jim, it's not something I routinely test.

Just curious: why do you use multiple catalogs?

I use multiple catalogs mainly because I like to keep my personal work and professional work separate. Also, one large catalog my become slow.
As far as the catalog that I already have synced goes, I'm to understand that the images will remain but are not synced, is that correct?
If so do they still remain in the original collection they were synced in? I would see one type of workaround to be to go back and fourth between syncing and resyncing the 2 different catalogs I'm using. I'm only syncing a small number of photos from each and only to show/share some of my work. Does that type of workaround make sense and would it work? Thanks for the previous info.

I can understand using separate catalogs for personal and business, but a large catalog becoming slow? I've read people here posting that catalogs of several hundred thousand images don't slow down significantly. Mine has a "mere" 75,000 images and it's no slower than when I create near-empty catalogs for test purposes.

I have many catalogs, but I do create one master catalog for syncing. So once I am happy with a collection, then I export it as catalog, load that catalog into my master catalog and sync.

Btw: sometimes I like the photos to have captions included. With EXIF Data I am never sure how these will be seen later, like in 10 years.
So I also burn the captions into the Jpeg with Mogrify and then re-import those JPEG's into my master catalog.
