Hi All,
I have just started using Topaz Photo AI as a plug-in within LrC. I have used it on some old JPGs and they round-trip fine back to LrC and sit in the Library as TIF files, alongside the original JPGs. However, the processed TIFs do not sync back to the rest of my LR ecosystem, which is LR Mobile on my iPhone and iPad, and LR on my MacBook Pro. Only the original JPGs show within the ecosystem's library.
Can anyone tell me why, please? I am far from an expert in LR or LrC, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Simon
The Topaz TIFF is a new image. That means it will only sync to the Creative Cloud ecosystem if it is added to a synced collection. If you created the image while you were not in a synced collection but in a folder or a non-synced collection, then the new image won't get synced until you've added it to a synced collection.

Why would they?
/edit/ Ok, my bad, I normally do not reply to Sync (cloud) issues. I should have kept to that policy. My assumption was LrC is/was not all that capable at automatically syncing to the cloud. I have asked a different question, that may be more helpful below.
Not meant to be sarcastic.

Because all my other images do (whatever the format), from LrC to LR and LR Mobile. Perhaps I should ask you "why shouldn't they, then?"

@GoldingD - I was asking for advice and help, as a new user. Not sarcasm....

Your old files, the previous imports. Did they immediately sync to the cloud to your other apps when imported, or did you have to sync them. And then later they would automatically sync upon Develop Mods or Library Metadata mods?

Hi. Thanks for this.
I imported the old JPGs from a CD-ROM (I just had them processed from 35mm film, after something like 20 years...). I imported them (the JPGs) from the CD into Lightroom (not Classic) on my MacPro, which is my usual important device. They synced immediately (and automatically) and were available on Lighroom Web, LR Mobile and in Classic (on my iMac).
I post process in Classic on my iMac and usually there is no problem with edited images synching back across the whole ecosystem. Since writing the original post, I have also saved some images in LrC as JPGs, rather than TIFs. These also appear in the Library of LRC, but don't sync across to Lightroom elsewhere.....
Any further thoughts appreciated. Cheers.

Hmm, yes, while researching your sync issue after my embarrassing reply, I noticed that Lr to LrC sync is different than LrC to Lr sync.

These images appear in the special synced collection All Synced Photographs (right underneath All Photographs).
You can drag the TIFFs into All Synced Photographs and they will sync back to the cloud -- you don't need to create a new collection.

I just ran a test with LR Classic 13.1 / Mac, syncing a TIFF created by LR export with the LR Cloud. The TIFF appeared in LR Web and LR Mobile as expected. So in general, TIFFs sync with LR Cloud.
Some initial troubleshooting steps:
1. Do the LR Classic menu command Help > System Info -- which version of LR are you running?
2. Verify that the TIFF appears in a synced collection. Often, files created from originals won't appear in the collections next to the originals.
3. If that doesn't help, attach one of the problem TIFFs here and we can investigate further. If the file is too big to attach or the forum software chokes on it, upload it to Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar and post the sharing link here.

Hi John. Thanks for responding.
1. It's v13.1 on a fairly new iMac.
2. I generally don't use Collections; however, if I use other plug-ins, such as DxO PhotLap or PureRaw3, these automatically create a Collection. However, I normally view my images in "All Photographs." So no, the round-tripped images aren't in a Collection.
Any other thoughts gratefully received!
As I noted above, I have just round-tripped some images through Topaz Photo AI as JPGs, rather than TIFFs, and these don't sync across to Lightroom etc either.....

Thanks, Johan. I'll try to create a separate Collection for the Topaz images and see if that works.....

You can also drag and drop them into the 'All Synced Photographs' collection. That is also a synced collection.

Brilliant Johan - it worked! Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
As I say, I'm very much a novice. Can I ask a probably totally dumb question, please? On the basis of Johan's solution, why is it that if I make a virtual copy of an image that is in the Library, it syncs that to LR? Is it because the original image I am virtually copying is in the "From Lightroom" Collection and LrC places the VC into that Collection and therefore syncs it?
Many, many thanks for solving this for me, folks!

Yes. "From Lightroom" is a collection set, with all the Lightroom albums as synced collections. So if you create a VC while you are in such a collection, it gets synced. The same will happen if you send an image to Topaz while you are in such a collection. In that case the returned TIFF is added to this collection, and so it is synced automatically.
