Unresponsive in Develop Module

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a critical issue with Lightroom Classic (latest version as of today). The software becomes completely unresponsive as soon as I start working on any photo, or even just browsing through the library. No error message appears – the program just freezes for a long time, and eventually the crash report window pops up.

At the moment, Lightroom Classic is completely unusable. This is a very urgent issue, as I need the software for my professional workflow and have several photo sessions to deliver.

Additional info:

I am using the latest version of Lightroom Classic.

I updated my Nvidia RTX 5070 drivers today (clean install).

Running on Windows 10/11 (specify your OS).

No other Adobe apps are running.

The issue occurs consistently, even after rebooting the system.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Are there any known fixes? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

After some tries I found the problem. It was an option in Nvidia App: The fluid motion frames must be deactivated. Now LRC works good as before.

There have been a number of reports here of problems with the Nvidia 5000-series GPUs. Was the fluid motion frames option selected by default or had you enabled it explicitly or implicitly by choosing some other "optimization" level?

@Garygod76 I am also experiencing similar behavoir with LR Classic in Dev module. No full crash usually, but lots of hangs, grindingly slow responsiveness and I am also not taxing the system, have all other programs closed, i9 w/ 64 gb ram and RTX 4070

As a professional like yourself, this is completely unacceptable by Adobe - ultimately if they are going to offer the program for windows users, they are going to NEED to ensure they overcome whatever compatibility bug is causing this - because just a year ago it wasn't doing this, and while I get that updates and system architectures dont always gel - this issue has been going on for far too long and I am strongly considering looking for an alternative solution that will be handled by a company that is ON TOP of addressing issues that arise, esspecially one's this widespread. Adobe just doesn't seem to feel solving this is a top priority as the subscriptions just keep coming in....

Did you try the solution provided by @Garygod76 ? If not, the please do. If it doesn't help, then your issue is not the same.; and in that case it's best you create a new thread detailing exactly what's happening with your system.
