What do you mean by "Vertorize"?

Lightroom is not a vector application, it works in pixels.

I have exported an image from LR and then placed it in Illustrator to trace over areas and create vectors.

You could also do such a task by opening an exported image in Photoshop and using the pen tool to create vectors.

Please send a little more information.

HI Kentdesign,

Thanks for responding. Its been a while since I've been on-ine so I did not see your response.  What I mean by Vectorize is to convert the image into a vector image.  Here is what I found out about a vector:

Vector images, alternatively, allow for more flexibility. Constructed using mathematical formulas rather than individual colored blocks, vector file types such as EPS, AI and PDF* are excellent for creating graphics that frequently require resizing. Your company logo and brand graphics should be created as a vector and saved as a master file so you can use it with smaller items such as your business card and letterhead, but also on larger surfaces, such as your corporate jet. When necessary, always create a JPG or PNG for use on the web from this master vector file. Just be sure to save the new raster file in the exact dimensions needed.

It looks likes LR does not allow this conversion.

I do not have Photoshop.

Jeff

Your definition of a vectored image is flawed in that sense, that if the source is a phtograph, vectorization will not bring any advantage to the picture, except if you want introducing kind of vector (comic) look.

kentdesign does perfectly know about vectorization. The question was (probably) what do you intend by verctorizing your pictures and what pictures do you want to vectorize?

As Lr is a tool to edit photos (especially develope RAW photos), and photos are inherently pixel images and representing real objects, and those objects are quite difficult to vectoirize, you will have difficulties to do so. Lr is not the tool to vectorize photos.

If you want vectorizing photos, you could use Illustrator, I would not recomment Photoshop for doing that, even that Photoshop has reduced vector functionallity.

There is another software available that can turn images into vectors for you. It is also either a subscription with web based operation or a stand alone purchased software. I tested this when it was in beta and it works really well if you simply want a company logo graphic and you absolutely need to use a photograph and cannot draw the vectors yourself by tracing in Adobe Illustrator. The software is called Vector Magic - vectormagic.com. If you are only talking about one image and have AI - you can  learn to do it yourself!
