Video import is not possible anymore

Community Beginner ,

I am using Lightroom Classic 9.1.

Today I tried to import some pictures and movies I just made, but the import windows only shows the jpg files, not the videos (avi). The video files are found on the SD card of the camera, but lightroom ignores them. I could not find a working solution in the other posts with similar subject.

The only change to the system I did several days  ago was to upgrade Lightroom.

Any ideas why suddenly the avi videos are ignored? Thanks in advance.

Thomas

In reply to my own comment and after some more (careful ...) research:

Issue indeed is related to avi (which I less frequently used in the past). After converting to e.g. mv4 the files are recognized.

LR is for Still images mainly but will , does, work with some video files.

Copy the video from the cameras memory card to a separate folder on your drive and then try to import it into LR. If that doesn't work then try using a program that deals specifically with videos.

Thanks for the quick response.

Lightroom ignores all the avi files, even those which were imported previously. Copying the files to a separate folder and importing from there isn't working either. Using another program would not be the preferred solution, especially that video import did work in the past in LR and I would like to keep my files and moments together.
