Only guessing but for what it's worth - have you defined range using tone / hue sliders alone, a defined rectangle sampling colour from a given part of the image, or both? Depending how selected, one might expect differing data to show in resulting saved preset.

 

Incidentally I'd guess, a preset that based a range mask on sampled colour from within a certain area of image A, may be not so immediately useful to apply on image B - within which the part that's appropriate to be sampled for this particular purpose, might be located elsewhere.

 

Also, presumably since an icon is shown denoting the presence of each kind of selection, the on screen position of that icon within the overall image may get saved out too, somewhere within the overall information about this mask.
