When exporting to a subfolder, a file is also created in the original folder

Let's say I want to make an 800-pixel jpeg from a DNG file. I have created an export User Preset that sends this file to a subfolder titled 800. However, the export process creates two files: one that sits in the original folder, and one that properly goes to the 800 folder. Is there a way to prevent this duplication? I don't remember this being the case, a few months ago. (I was away from Lightoom CC for a while). I'd rather not have JPEGS (for instance) in my folder of DNG files. Mac Mini M4 Sequoia 15.5. Thanks for any help.

Are you sure that there are really two files? Did you verify this in the MacOS Finder? This could be a matter of having the option 'Show photos in subfolders' checked. If that option is checked, then Lightroom will show photos that are in a subfolder when you select the parent folder.

Thanks, yes it only shows up in the 800 folder, in the finder. Where is the "Show photos in subfolder" option to be found?

It a menu under 'Library'. The menu gets a checkmark.

When multiple presets show a checkmark at the left of the export settings window, then multiple variations of the export batch will duly happen (by design). Just as a thought - the screenshot does not currently show presets checked.

Also, as a suggestion, you may want to review whether the option "Add to this Catalog" is desirable? IMO it is not the best role of the Catalog, to track and manage derivative output files.

Thanks but I certainly want the catalog to show what is in my subfolders.
