Hello,
I have all of my pictures copy from the SD card to c:\2019 pictures\dated folder. Recently I've noticed that Lightroom Classic will occasionally create a new folder in Users\Atteberys\Pictures\2019\dated folder. This has happened a few times in the last year, but I just caught it recently. LR is copying the pictures into the new folders. If possible I'd like to delete the new folders and point the edits to the original locations.
I'm currently on 8.4.1. I haven't made any changes to my preferences in a long time.
Thanks,
Chris

Stop Attaching images to your posts. Insert them into the text body of your post by using the Insert Photos icon in the tool bar.
Not many people, at least not me, are going to download the files you attached.
Do not use this to include images to your post.
Use the Tool bar "Insert Photos" icon.
What is happening in the Import dialog window is you have Copy (or Move) selected and NOT "Add". You have to Check that every time you do an import. The best thing to do is create a Preset, and make sure "Add" is active (selected) every time you import images that you have manually copied to your hard drive.
With Add select youi won;t even get the option to create a folder let alone any subfolders. The destination section isn't even shown with "Add" selected.
Do not Delete any images inside LR. If you do LR will also discard, remove, delete, any edits you have done to them. In the wrong folder that is showing the images in, in the File Manager for the OS you are using Move those images out of that folder to another that you create (New Folder, Name It, Move the images to that folder. This is for a Backup of those images). Then in LR they will show as Missing. Then use this guide to Find Missing file and folders to point it to the correct folder you copied them to.

Also this is NOT LR that is doing it. It is YOUR Selection in the import window. It is User Error of not checking all the settings before you click the Import button in the import window.

Chris,
The forum, having been completely replaced with what you're seeing, is new to all of us. For those of us who use it on a daily basis, we're very aware of and frustrated by many of the issues impacting on users and helpers. Hopefully, this explains 'Just Shoots Me's' comment regarding the use of the correct icon/button.

Quote “Why is import with Add creating a new folder” this is not normally an option if you are importing from a SD card you should only be presented with the option to Copy.
In addition if you are using the Add option this option does not create folders to copy files to, the files remain where there are located. Can you explain?
