Why is my Lightroom suddenly only keeping one copy of backups

I was clearing out old backups (and there were many!).  However although I back up the great majority of times I close Lightroom, I notice that for the past month or two there are no backups showing.  Lightroom suddenly seems to have decided to only keep the most recent backup.  I have done a couple of changes as a test, a few files that needed to be deleted, and closed down, but whilst Lightroom went through the process, when I later looked it had not made an incremental backup.

Am confused to say the least!  What can I do please?

Edit -> Catalog Settings does not show the location for your backups. Whatever it says there is not where your backups go.

The backup dialog is the box that appears when you exit Lightroom and asks you if you want to make backups of your catalog. This is where the location of your backups is shown.

Do you know the folder location that is set for your backups?

Is it possible that that location has changed recently?

Close Lightroom and Check the folder shown in the Backup dialog.

Lightroom does not make "Incremental" backups. When you exit Lightroom and ask it to make a Backup, it creates a ZIP file of the whole Catalog as it exists at the moment you close the program, and the ZIP folder has the current date. Every 'Backup' of the catalog is a complete version of the Catalog.

Regards. My System: Lightroom-Classic 14.0, Photoshop 26.0, ACR 17.0, Lightroom 8.0, Lr-iOS 9.0.1, Bridge 15.0.0, Windows-11.

Hi wobertc - The folder location for my backups is G:/Pictures/ Lightroom.  When I have a look at Edit>Catalog Settings, that is showing correctly.

The location did change from the C drive a wee while ago

What is the "Backup dialog" please?

I have just done further checking and although my Ircat files are appearing on the G drive, the Backups (Zip) are still appearing in the C drive??  How can I fix this please?

Many thanks dj!    When closing down you tend to just see the normal query and not the part where you can choose.  So easy.  I have done a couple of tests and now have two zipped files of about 9.3 Gigs each.  They do not appear in a folder called Backups like before, but of course as I write this, it occurs to me that I can easily create one - makes sense.

Thanks again, now less stressed!
