P: Conditional or selectable Import Presets

Community Beginner ,

I use different presets for different projects. I have to change several settings depending on if I'm shooting Real Estate, architecture, or doing post-production for another photographer.

Justification: When I shoot real estate I just need quick edits and the quality is mid level and have specific presets for it. When shooting architecture, my raw settings are completely different. Add import presets like we have for exports. Then I can pick my import settings and not have to change multiple. For example, when I do post-production for others, it's easy to forget to change the metadata tab and I can end up adding my copyright to another photographers photos. It would be nice if you could even tie the import to a specific camera.

Please vote it up! 🙂

You can specify a develop preset to be applied on import:

Or are you thinking of something different?

Yes, that is what I'm referring to, but there is no way to apply the setting to a specific CATALOG. I have one CAT for Real Estate photography, another for post-production (editing others images), and another for Architecture. They all require different develop settings. On top of that, I often shoot both Drone and Sony camera images, which require different presets. Since the metadata has the camera model, it would be nice to have more options.

I'm on the ASD/ADHD or AuDHD spectrum and tend to forget things. So I often forget to update it. Since it's a repeat task, it drives me crazy because it could so easily be make catalog specific. Adding the additional options may be more complex, but importing is something most photographers do several times per week and this would be an oportunity to optimize their workflow. Every little bit helps.

Check out the option to save presets with the catalog. Another option is to create preset groups with the name of the catalog. Also check out Import presets (at the bottom center of the import dialog). And import preset saves all the settings of the right panel of the import dialog, so things like previews, destination folder, whether a develop preset and/or a metadata preset is applied on import.
