P: Mobile: Custom Sort Order, Ratings and Keywords

Explorer ,
Apr 08, 2014 Apr 08, 2014

To make Lightroom Mobile useful for Editing, Sequencing & Showcasing work - would like to see features such as - Custom Sort Order (User Order), Ratings and Keywords sync back and forth...

Honestly more than the Basic Panel for Develop is not an essential for mobile, which is already available... Releasing more Library Module Tools will really make Lightroom Mobile a great Companion App...

I hope these features are on the horizon?

I agree with this, we might use the mobile app mainly to organize and filter the usable snaps. Rating and keywords will really help us to achieve this, which I was looking for long long time. It would be wonderful if I can sit on my couch and keyword the photos or do it when I commute. All the pending photos without keywords would be covered. I believe adobe will release this in the future update.

I would also love to see my user presets to choose and it will make it very easy to edit the shoots.

I "third" that idea. When synching a collection from desktop to mobile the Ability to retain the custom sort order is very important to me.

Another function I would like to see is: if I hand my iPad to a client it is very easy for them to use a control and modify an image which will then synch that modified image back to my desktop. I would like to prevent that from occurring. I would think that it would be an easy solution to be able to temporarily disable the synching from iPad to desktop.

I agree 100% with S T that the basic panel should have been the last option to realize on a Lightroom mobile. Real developing RAWs is a job rather for the PC/MAC than on the iPad.

Custom sort order, rating, smart collections and keyword tagging ist THE job, you can do on the iPad. PLEASE add these features in a future update.

The iPad can also be useful to demonstrate customers slideshows. I would never calibrate sharpness, color temp, de-noising on the iPad.

Furthermore MOST WANTED in the Lightroom 6: face recognition!!!

Well the custom sort function is half baked as we cannot change the order on the iPad manually by dragging and dropping... It only takes the custom order from the desktop

The power of the iPad is being able to review and sort images when away from the main computer. For me this means I need to be able to edit / add *all* metadata, not just keywords. I can do this with Photosmith already but I would rather use just one app and Lightroom Mobile would be the obvious choice.

Is this planned?

Seems poorly thought out. If the intent is not to show work to others, why include transitions between pix but not real sort order functionality on the iPad. Very confusing, especially to anyone who has used other photo apps. Thought I had found the perfect photo edit/photo display for my mini. Not yet.

Yes, one option is to edit metadata in Photosmith first then export back to the native photos app then into Lightroom. But that's a lot of extra work and it would be nice to get down to one app for everything.

Pleeeease, may we have access to our desktop-based keyword hierarchy on LR Mobile? This would be even more useful to me than the Develop tools. The iPad is a great platform for culling and organizing, and that includes keywords. I want to be able to apply keywords to photos (and have them sync back, of course), and I want to be able to see those photos that have one or more specified keywords.

Geotagging would be nice too, though that's a lower priority for me.

Absolutely in favour of adding keywording to LR mobile. This would increase the usefulness tremendously! And the only sensible way to implement this would indeed be to have the keyword structure of the main catalog available in Mobile.

Although nice to be able to edit photos on mobile what I really want to do for those short trips when I don not take MacBook is to

1) Review photos and dismiss ones I do not want to keep. Minimal editing needed to do this , crop, light adj., sharpen, straighten.

2) Rename files.

3) Add keywords and geo-tag.

4) Occasionally share with others.

Then when I get back home I can review and improve editing on larger iMac as all the photo management has been done.

I was very frustrated to find that LR mobile allows me to select by star rating but does not have the colour flags - I tried to review a large job where published images were marked yellow etc, only to find that's not available.

As others have said, LR Mobile is a great tool for the first pass (flagging/rejecting) and for cleaning up images, but it also needs to be usable as a tool to help us sort through photos, order them, select which are used for what purpose, and all the other things we do with batches of photos while we are away from a desktop

Anonymess,

To institute Color Labels that are compatible with Desktop Lightroom, you would need to have a two-tiered set of entries. First, you would have to activate the Label field text as a Lightroom for Mobile editable field. Second you would have to add the ability of defining a color label set against the text label fields. It is a level of complexity above the current star and pick flag system.

If for some reason your color label set on Desktop and Mobile have a mismatch (or are deliberately different) you would not see the colors you expect. Many people, me included, use multiple label sets. Which would sync with Lightroom for Mobile and how would you see not breaking the multi-color-label workflow when syncing color labels?
