P: Move Photo Stacks Between Collections as a Group

Community Beginner ,

Dear Lightroom Team,

I would like to request a feature that would make working with photo stacks much more efficient.

Example:
In my workflow, I have a panorama stack in the collection path:
Travel → Destination → RAW

After I stack the panorama (group) and perform color correction, I want to move the entire group of 9 photos to a new collection:
Travel → Destination → Edited

Currently, Lightroom only allows moving photos individually, which breaks the stack. This means that if I have a panorama stack or any group of images, I have to manually move each photo, then restack them in the new collection.

Suggested Improvement:
It would be very helpful to have the option to move the entire stack as one unit between collections—without breaking it. For example, pressing CTRL (or CMD) + mouse drag could move the full stack instead of just individual files.

This would be useful not only for panoramas, but also when returning edited images from Photoshop back into Lightroom Classic (which often creates new stacks). Having the ability to move stacks intact between collections would make the workflow much faster and more organized.

Thank you for considering this improvement.

Kind regards,

Ilja

Hello, this would be useful for me too, especially with the new Auto-stacking by visual similarity feature. I then move photos grouped into a stack across collections, but I was surprised when selecting a stack only adds one photo, not all the photos in the stack.
Please make it so that when selecting a stack, for example, while holding down the CTRL key, all the photos in the stack are selected. Thank you.

Without wanting to interfere in your own chosen workflow - which is completely none of my business -

maybe consider instead reflecting the workflow statuses an image passes through (such as, Edited), by applying a systematic metadata marker of some kind? A keyword, a colour flag, a star rating, something of that sort.

This way whenever you want (for a given starting set of images) to view just those that are currently in "Edited" state you can do so directly. Either temporarily view-filter on the relevant image attribute: or for a more persistent grouping include that attribute as a selection rule for a Smart Collection, alongside the rule of having membership in this starting Collection (Travel - [Destination] ). It is then just those images meeting both rules that you see - and, dynamically so,.

This means the images don't need to change which Collections they have manually been given membership of, also their folder location stays the same of course. Hence no disruption of Stacking, nor any other kinds of virtual organisation these images may also participate in.
