P: Turn off display of milliseconds

New Here ,
Nov 01, 2025 Nov 01, 2025

How to turn off display of milliseconds (capture time). Milliseconds are useless to me, but they clutter the grid view and make it impossible to quickly review capture time for long burst of bird photos when trying to determine when a burst ends and a new beginning. Just want to turn off the milliseconds and keep the seconds (as in the previous version)

I have exactly the same question. I understand that milliseconds on display can be helpful, but for my work they are confusing and distracting. Please make milliseconds optional.

Please give us the option to turn this off, these extra numbers on the timestamps are driving me crazy!!

So... any answer?

Or are we just stuck with Adobe forcing this unwanted and unnecessary 'feature' on us?

@gordonholmes: "any answer?"

Adobe rarely comments on when bugs and feature requests might be fixed/implemented.

Nor did they ask before implementing this.

I use Lightroom Classic 15.0.1 on Windows 11 25H2 and I have recently noticed that the capture time of a photo displayed hundredths of a second. This happens in the grid and loupe view also in the Metadata section in the library. Bug or feature?

I see this also with .JPEGs, .TIFFs and .DNGs. I don't know exactly when this happens first.

New feature in v15, needed because today's cameras shoot more than a frame a second.

Hey, @AxeL Matt. This was a long standing request that got released with Lightroom Classic V15: P: Support sub-second (milliseconds) field in file naming templates.

And, now there is also a new request for P: Turn off display of milliseconds 😅😅

Best,

To be honest, I don't need it and I find it very annoying. It takes up valuable space in the grid view that could be used to display more important informations completely. The best solution would really be to offer an option to choose whether or not it's displayed. Those who need it can then choose to see it.

For me it's completely useless and I find it very annoying. It takes up valuable space in the grid view that could be used to display more important informations completely.

I understand that some users need this. The best solution for everyone would indeed be an option to choose whether or not the information should be displayed. Those who need it can then choose to show it.

I can't imagine that implementing this would be overly complicated or time-consuming.

Adobe should give the user an option to turn off this annoying problem. Its a mess in my grid view of a lot of other important info. Are you listening Adobe?

There is nothing wrong with having this option for a few who needs it - this should be optional for the reasons described by many others

Its a useful feature for some, especially with timelapse sequences.  When you have a hundred images that are timestamped with milliseconds but Lr couldn't display/use that, it meant that you could potentially lose the exact order in which they were taken by the camera.

Granted.

Those people should have the ability to turn it on.

The rest of us, who don't want or need this 'feature', should have the ability to turn it OFF.

I agree that it should be optional; in addition, it would be useful to have the option of displaying a chosen number of decimal places, so that 120.345 could also be displayed as 120, 120.3, or 120.34 as desired.

I agree this should be optional.   It is annoying for those that do not need it.

@SameerK. You're supposed to make Lightroom work the way I want it to work, not the way anyone else wants it to work.  Thank you. 😆

Displaying milliseconds is a great new feature needed for those who use cameras that shoot images at sub-second speed.  BUT, for whose who do not need this feature, the millisecond display definitely clutters the grid view and leaves less room for other information in the opposite side of the line where the time stamp appears.  So, making the display optional would be great!
