Feather Masks - ability to universally feather a mask selection in LR like photoshop. With a feather slider. The AI selctions are great but often need to be feathered this would speed up workflow greatly.

100% agree. Without feathering, 95% of what you can do becomes too abrasive on the eye. A lot of functionality is being lost here. By the way - how do you manually feather?

I searched but couldn't find one, so apologies if there's already a thread on this but ...

In the 2026 release of BorisFX Optics there's a very cool slider you can now use to soften / blur masks so that any adjustments blend seamlessly.

Can something like this PLEASE be considered for Camera Raw (Photoshop + Lightroom) ??

It's always great to see new features being added to make the creative process even more enjoyable, but the masking panel has been around since October 2021 and it could REALLY do with that slider to give it a big leap forward.

Thanks

I will always agree with more controls but I have some confusion as to how masks work.  If I do "Select Object" or Subject, it seems to me that parts of the mask are not at 100%.

Also, what I've taken to do it "add" a mask with the brush tool set with feathering and go along the edges of the original mask to soften the edge.

I totally agree that we do need this type of feature (slider) in place.

Completely agree we need this. This feature takes the masking capabilities from great to excellent. Thanks!

I need this also and currently I need to use the brush and add/substract parts for every photo, costs me a lot of time.

Such a good request - the masks are life changing and this would make them sooooo much more useful.

I've been a little bit successful by first doing the mask, then closing it and doing a lens blur, with in Visualize depth mode and spending TIME adjusting until it looks better. That is a 'pain in the posterior' workflow though and I wholeheartedly support having a feathering slider for each mask.

What we need is more than just feathering a mask:
We also need the ability to shrink and expand the mask, as well as smoothing the edges (which is not the same as feathering).
And then....please let´s export masks to Photoshop! Even Capture One can do that!

Absolutely!!!!! PLUS there are numerous little irritating things that Abobe could & should have cleared up over the years and they didn't!!! They just keep on adding new stuff and not taking care to perfect the old, everyday tools!!!

The continuing development ofmasking within Lightroom has been impressive over the years however the addition of feathering masks would constitute a significant further step, one which would be well received.

I completely agree.  Adding feathering to masks would make avoiding halos around objects with AI masks so much easier.

This is absolutely required for the AI based Masking tools. I can see the votes for it clocking up rapidly.

Adobe claims that votes count towards getting a request implemented, but based on my observations, this mostly isn't really true. How many votes are needed for Adobe to do something?

An example is 201 votes for Camera Raw adjustments in context of other layers proposed 8 years ago, yet nothing.

Denoise and Super Resolution: one or the other, but not both is ridiculous after this amount of time. Not being able to Denoise a JPEG by now is equally shameful.

Although the Adaptive Color Profile is an excellent feature that can produce great starting points for many photographs, was it ever asked for?

I'm not saying don't give us features we don't ask for, but do give us features that are very good ideas that will help us process our photographs; this one is one of those ideas.

Yes Adobe. Feathering in masks please. Time to step up with the competition (Luminar and Boris).
