P: Option to Auto-Disable AutoSync

I occasionally use the AutoSync feature in the Develop pamnel to automatically apply multiple edits to multiple photos at the same time. However, after doing so, I very frequently forget to turn off AutoSync and then may make multiple selections again in a different tab (say the grid view). Then, when I go back to make an edit, I accidentally have the AutoSync option still selected and end up making a lot of edits to a lot of photos before realizing that I have had it turned on.

I would appreciate a new feature of the settings menu that would allow a user to choose to keep the AutoSync selected after making a new or different selection of photos (as it does today), or have the ability to automatically disable AutoSync  automatically as soon  as the user selects a different selection, either a single selection, or another multiple selection.

I currently use an 2023 iMac 24" M3, running Sonoma 14.6.1 and Lightroom Classic CC v13.5.

I havwe found the fact that AutoSync stays active very friustrating over the years. By making this a new setting / preference, some user that like the AutoSync to stay opn can have it they way they prefer as well!

Yeah, I've been caught by that one too. The only "problem" with a solution as you suggest is that it might be easy to forget how the settings have been set at a certain time. At least that's the way I see it. That's my two cents worth, and that's all it's worth.

I agree.

I use the Auto-Sync frequently, and have also freqently experienced this. Most of the time I notice, but some of the time I don't.

I've gotten into the habit of using the keyboard shortcut nearly everytime I select multiple photos and that's helpful. But I'd prefer to be able to have a settings options along the lines of 'when selecting multiple photos disable auto-sync' as I'd prefer to turn it on when needed as opposed to having to turn it off when I don't need it.

Good suggestion.

Good suggestion.

There are many reports here over the years of Auto Sync ending in tears after users forget to turn it off. If you don't notice immediately, you often can't undo it except by going photo to photo.

I resist the urge to use Auto Sync and do Sync instead. It's a couple extra keystrokes each time, and I'm tempted to use Auto Sync, but then I figure that the time recovering from one mistake could wipe out a years-worth of time savings.
