P: SDK: Support for Alt function

Community Beginner ,
Aug 24, 2021 Aug 24, 2021
I have recently purchased a Loupedeck CT to help control Lightroom Classic better and become more productive and accurate. Unfortunately I now find that some functions are not available on Loupedeck CT because it uses SDK (softare development kit). Many things are controllable but things like using the Alt key to improve Sharpening is not possible because Adobe has not provide SDK support for the Alt function. Loupdeck Ltd tells me they have requested SDK support for the Alt function but Adobe has not done it.

This is a very important function.  Loupedeck CT does a great job of making Lightroom Classic easier, faster, more accurate and more pleasant to use but without the Alt function e.g. to carry out adjustments in the Detail panel on Sharpening Amount, Radius and Masking, not to mention Luminance, it loses its strength.  Please get the SDK function implemented for the Alt function

The Alt (Option) key is used with several different sliders to show an optional display that highlights what is being changed. This key is ignored when moving the slider in the SDK.

Hi all,

I'm not sure if it is possible. As I checked through API doc, it seems not supported.

Is there way to change Alt/Option key mode in Develop module?

The mode is following:

14 Hidden Lightroom Shortcuts That Use the Alt/Option Key

    https://petapixel.com/2017/06/14/14-hidden-lightroom-shortcuts-use-altoption-key/

I'd like to enter/exit the Alt/Option key mode from API or let show the mode if user holding Alt/Option key.

I have the code to change develop module slider value (ex. Temperature, Exposure, etc).

I'd like to support holding Alt/Option key as same as above mouse operation.

The mode seems triggered by Alt/Option key and Left Mouse Button Down on the slider area.

I thought we cannot, but I'm still looking for any way to do.

Thank you,

Naoki

Unfortunately, this isn't possible with the current LR SDK -- it's an obvious design oversight. Please add your constructive opinion to this bug report in the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom: List of Lightroom SDK LrDevelopController bugs | Photoshop Family Customer Community . Be sure to click Me Too in the upper-right corner.

Hi Rory,

Thanks for bringing this to our notice.
We've created a feature request for the same.
We'll take it for prioritization within the team.

Thanks,
Bhargav

This was partially implemented in the LR 12 SDK, allowing the clipping overlay to be displayed for the appropriate sliders (e.g. Exposure):
